Saturday Afternoon

The boys have had new kites since last Easter, and they were still in the box, never used, so last Saturday, we fixed that. We took the boys, and the dog, out on the base. There is a huge open field and we the wind was just right for flying kites. It was an afternoon of kite flying, frisbee, and fun. We had a great time!

24 Hours Later....

Yes, we got hit with an ice storm. We had Stake Conference on Sunday morning. It was the broadcast type from Salt Lake. We were about 30 minutes into it, right before President Monson was to speak, and the power went out. We were told that it was getting yucky outside and that we should all go home. We were driving down the street towards the house and we noticed that the power was off. Crap, all we had was a garage door opener, no key, and it doesn't matter how many times you push the opener, the garage WON'T open with out electricity. After a heated discussion as to whether we should wait for the power to come back on (yeah, right), break a window (yeah, double right), or call a lock smith (brilliant idea), we did the only logical thing and called a lock smith. One hour and 20 minutes later after sitting in the driveway, with little love in the car, our help arrived. $80 and 30 seconds and we were in! HORRAY! We learned our lesson and today, a house key went on every car key chain we have. We won't be left out in the cold again!

Jared had a friend invite him to Arkansas to hunt on a lease that he had. He and the dog had a great time!

Birthday Celebration

Jared celebrated number 38 this year! Wow! Nothing special, just a fun relaxing Sunday at home, with clam chowder and German Chocolate cake.

POLAR EXPRESS

We took the boys to the "Polar Express" again this year. It was fun, but it defiantly looses it's excitement after you have done it once. We had to do it on the 27th, so post Christmas makes it a little less exciting too. Our friends the Otis's and the Huber's came. It was a great way to wrap up the holidays!

CHRISTMAS

Christmas at our home never starts too early.....we finally got started about 8:00. We had happy boys all day!

And what would Christmas be without food....yummy breakfast and dinner!

CHRISTMAS EVE

We had a great party at our friends house Christmas Eve night. As you can see we were not hurting for food......

They had a fun game (I can't remember the name of it), but you had to control a ball around an obstacle course using your brain. CrAzY, but fun!

The older kids hung out and played Wii.

We ended the night at home with new pajamas (thanks, Grandma Swenson!)

Busy Boys

The Hunting Gang.....

As you can see the boys have been very busy over the holidays. Jared had 11 straight days off and most of those mornings were spent out hunting with the boys. I don't know who will go through withdrawals more, them or me! I have enjoyed the quiet mornings at home.

Jared has also been working on getting the scouts their hiking merit badge. They did two 10 mile hikes (more like walks along the river) over the holidays.
