I decided to start blogging so that I could keep up with "my kids" and their Texas summer vacation. We really had a great time as usual with almost everyone here for July 4th. The day started early with our annual 4th of July bike race, "5 Miles My Way." Our riders were up bright and early - and ready to ride! Here is Suzanna in the yellow helmet - is that a smile?? Matthew and Collin are waiting patiently for the starting gun. Christopher is riding with Uncle John on his "one wheeler." 
We all thought for sure that Karl would beat all of us, but just before the finish line, Suzanna got a burst of energy. Colleen really loves this tradition and loves just riding and encouraging the others.
We also had fun after the ride looking at our EMS helicopter and on the big blow-up slide and the bouncey tent. We could not hang around for too long, since we needed to get a start on all the food that needed to be cooked and on all the swimming.
