Birthdays Galore!

It is that time of the year again.  We now have 5 birthdays in our family during August.  I decided to make cakes for everyone.  The little butterflies are for the twins.  The chocolate one had cool whip and raspberry filling.  I also made a lemon one, but I don't have the picture yet.

Milan comes to Salt Lake City

In May of 2010, I went to this shopping area in Milan, Italy.  I loved that the "ceiling" was so high that it seemed like we were outside.  Come to find out, the new mall in Salt Lake City, named, City Creek is patterned after this mall.  I went to City Creek last night and I love it!  I think I will be spending some time there.

We celebrated the twin's 1st birthday. I can't believe it has already been a year! Here are some picture to document the event.

What are we suppose to do?

Emily didn't like getting her fingers dirty. Ellie plopped hers upside down. Now what?

Image
Emily is looking at Ellie, is that what we are suppose to do? Beat it to a pulp?

Emily starts to get into it. She even looks like Pedro with the chocolate mustache.

Tastes yummy.

Opa!

Julie and I went to the Greek festival again this year. It was the shortest wait we have ever had. Only 30 minutes in the food line. I had to get a picture of this little boy wearing his official hat, gloves and apron, dishing out the salad dressing. The food is always the best part of the festival!

Let There Be Light.....

To celebrate Lisa and Rebecca's birthday and my parent's wedding anniversary, we had dinner at my parent's house. It was a blustery Sunday afternoon. When Julie and I arrived, we were surprised to find that the power had gone out. The dinner was all set up downstairs and we just needed to cook the carrots and make some gravy. We waited for a while to see if the power would come back on.

My dad went to get Laura from the airport and it gave us an excuse to postpone dinner. My dad came home empty-handed. Since the storm was creating so much wind, the plane had been diverted to Boise, ID. Laura finally got home 4 hours after her original arrival time.

In the meantime, my mom went to the neighbor's house across the street to see if we could use their microwave to cook the carrots. For some reason they had electricity and we didn't. We had a candlelight dinner downstairs. The kids thought it was so cool. We decided to eat our salad first. To me, the salad really was a dessert, but Lisa says that if you put a piece of lettuce on the plate first, it turns it into a salad!

After the first course, we went back upstairs and had Lisa and Rebecca open their birthday presents. When we went back downstairs to eat the rest of the meal, the kids could not figure out why we were going to eat AGAIN. The swiss steak was so good and it had a yummy sauce so we didn't even need gravy. The dinner was so good.

By this time, the power being out was really getting annoying. Then, poof, it came back on four hours after it went off. It was a good thing because it was really getting dark outside. We will remember this birthday dinner.
