bumpy road…
Steep and Cheap did it again. Made me laugh, and after the day I had yesterday, I can TOTALLY relate:
It’s good to be able to recognize when you didn’t get enough sleep the night before. Sometimes I’ll be sitting at the coffee shop working on my laptop when the woman sitting next to me will begin dancing in her chair, really getting into the music she’s listening to on big headphones. I’ll think, “I’m gonna strangle this psycho hose beast with her own headphone cord in exactly two seconds,” and then I’ll think, “You know what? I guess I just didn’t get enough sleep last night.” Several bystanders have met gruesome deaths or severe beatings in my imagination when I’ve skipped a meal or spent too many hours staring at a computer screen. It sometimes makes me wonder what that guy seated next to me on the bus is thinking about doing when I keep laughing out loud at the book I’m reading.
I haven’t slept well the last couple of nights, despite the hot tub soaks, so I can totally relate to the sleep deprivation. I thought I was gonna strangle that man in the store last night, but I’m not a violent person, I just need exercise to not go mental, so I rode my bike in today. Every time it snows, I ride my bike. My coworkers have noticed this, and I answered my own question about life: I always choose the bumpy road. Why? I like the challenge, I must do this subconsciously sometimes, because on occasion, it hurts, always redlining it… ANYWAY, I did the most ding-dongy thing today. I broke several very important rules of cycling: 1) DON’T run BIG BIG (especially with a SHORT chain); 2) DON’T ride without tools. I did BOTH today, and I’m still here to tell the story (barely). So during my lunch break, I rode home, took my rear wheel off, then shifted gears. This is what happens when you recycle parts, you put crap on you don’t realize. This is only my commuter bike, but dang, it should have a longer chain.

Oh man, that sucks!! 😦
