WHO IS CEDO
CEDO Intercultural is a unique collaboration between non-profit organizations in Mexico and the United States. Operating under a United Executive Committee and inspired by a vision, mission, and strategic programs, CEDO pools its resources and experiences to offer realistic environmental and community solutions that recognize, respect, and drive cultural, socio-economic, and biological interconnections between Mexico and the United States.
We are an environmental organization with a strong educational vocation and is recognized for our holistic approach that drives nature-based solutions to protect, manage and restore natural ecosystems that characterize this region.
OUR PROGRAMS
CEDO's programs are designed to promote biodiversity conservation, fisheries co-management and community well-being with nature-based solutions. CEDO's realistic, scientific and community-based solutions recognize, respect and take advantage of the cultural, socioeconomic and biological interconnections between local communities and their ecosystems.
Climate Change &
Ecosystem Management
The Climate Change Program’s main objective is to carry out research actions to identify the effects of climate change, help understand which human populations, fisheries and aquaculture areas are the most vulnerable to this change and help improve the adaptive capacity of the fishing sector.
CONSERVATION, BIODIVERSITY &
CITIZEN SCIENCE
We will consolidate voluntary citizen networks, trained and certified to monitor biodiversity, and to collaborate in restoring landscapes and protect priority species in the North and Upper Gulf of California.
SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES &
AQUACULTURE PROGRAM
We will promote and advise the regional and national fisheries sector, so that a third of the annual regional productions of commercial fisheries are produced and marketed following the fisheries improvement project and social responsibility and fair-trade certification models.
COMMUNITY WELL-BEING
We will strengthen communities in the Northern Gulf of California with the tools and practices that best enable them to identify problems and self-manage appropriate solutions for the common good.
EDUCATION, OUTREACH &
COMMUNICATION
We will promote and implement updated environmental education and School of the Sea curricula, professional and specialized courses, and competency certifications with children, youth, producers, local professionals, and tourists, and share lessons learned to scale the impact.
VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM
MAC CEDO, a sister entity of CEDO Intercultural, currently offers a permanent volunteer program. We are now making a special call for volunteers for the Corporate Volunteer Program for the proposed communities and under the terms that support the activities described in this booklet.OUR SERVICES
CEDO Intercultural integrates people, knowledge and solutions; to promote resilient communities and ecosystems. The organization is committed to improvement based on the continuous strengthening of communities and the natural environment, through: i) knowledge for decision-making; ii) the dissemination and application of tools for promoting community participation and consensus; iii) education; iv) conservation, sustainable use and dissemination of the regional biocultural heritage; v) adaptation to climate change and vi) the design and promotion of ecosystem-based harvesting and management schemes.

Sailing for CEDO
The program raises awareness about CEDO and the work that we are doing in the northern Gulf of California with the group of cruisers that sail the Sea of Cortez from January to May and to encourage appreciation and conservation of the Gulf’s natural beauty and resources.
