Last Dance With NHDS & Class BBQ

Last Friday was our school's Chinese New Year celebration. It was also the last time the Sec4s would be performing with Dance Society... I felt really sad. Knowing that that was your last performance meant that your time in Dance will soon be ending. And yet our last performance was nothing special, unique. It was just a yearly Chinese New Year dance. Although this year, all the Sec4s participated in the Lion Dance. I used to think that Lion Dance was boring but after learning the steps, rhythm & the beats, I realised how hard it was for both the Heads and the Tails. I was the tail and my thighs, back and neck ached so badly.

We didn't have many rehearsals so I was really worried that we wouldn't be able to put up a good performance. However, I went out and did my very best, like all the dancers did, especially the Sec4s. In the end, the feedback of our performance was positive. Many people were very impressed as well when they saw that there were girls in the lions as well. Well, who said girls can't do what the males can? We can even do them better! (;

It's definitely very upsetting to know that the Sec4s only have 16 practices left before we "graduate" from Dance. I'm sure we will all treasure the rest of our time left and use the practices wisely.

In the evening, 401 came over to have our class BBQ. We played Poker cards, Hide & Seek and Cling-cling through out the night. We had a shortage of food so a few of the guys went out to buy back and we even asked Mr Wong to buy some more food while on his way over. Mainly Li Jing & the guys did the BBQing of food while the rest of us just ate. I did help marinate the chicken though (:

A cake was also bought to celebrate Joey & Max's birthdays. (: And for the rest of the night, we gossiped it away. (;

401 really bonded through this BBQ and I think all of us had a lot of fun (: I'm starting to love our class more♥

Camp Horizon

Last Wednesday to Friday (11th-13th) was the Sec 4 camp. On the first day, we collected unused newspapers from the HDB blocks near our school. It was tiring but it wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. Nat & I also bonded more with Hong Xiang & Max (: It was quite fun actually.

There were talks in the afternoon and I didn't like our 401's trainer...

Day 2 was better. We had more talks in the morning and Sec4s played the Sheriff game, or rather "Bang" as how I know it.  Xi Ming represented our class and we won 3rd place! (:

There was a Values Showcase in the afternoon where each class had to pick one value and explain the meaning of it through performing. 401 chose Love. We had 2 skits and 1 song/ dance. To my surprise, we got 3rd place for it! :D

Then, there was Fine Dining in the evening. At the beginning, I felt really super duper extremely x infinity self-conscious about myself. However, once everyone had settled down at the place, it felt better. At the end, it wasn't as bad as I had dreaded it to be. Everyone rushed around taking photos. We even spammed more when we got back to school. And then, it was a mad rush to change out of our fine dining attire, into our night walk attire.

Night walk was fun! We walked for around 3 hours with a few breaks in between. 401 was the first class to head off and Mr Wong walked really really fast so we kept on running in order to close up the gaps. At the last lap, I got really tired and felt like I could just fall asleep while walking. When we reached back to school, I just crashed. But I woke up in the middle of my sleep because of gastric pains ): So I ate a bun and fell asleep while eating it. Hahaha. I was really that tired.

We had to wake up about 2 hours later to get ready for flag-raising and then prepare for the Class Cheering competition. Also, to my greatest surprise, 401 won 2nd place for it! I totally did not expect us to even get 3rd. I thought there were other classes who's cheers were better than ours. I guess it was because of our class spirit that we won (:

Overall, the camp was much better than what I had expected it to be. 401 also bonded more during the camp and I've also learned to love my class more (:

Welcome 2012

It's my first post of 2012! Yes, I know it's late by 7 days but I didn't have time to blog during the first week of school. It's only the first week yet I'm already feeling the pressure. Of course, everyone expects a Sec 4 student to start sobering up once school starts. I definitely did. So far, I'm pleased with my consistency of being a good student. Hopefully that will last all the way till Os.

I decided not to make any detailed new year resolutions because I always don't seem to be able to fulfill them. So this year, the only thing I want to improve is my mindset towards things. I want to be more positive and be grateful with everything I have. I'm sure that if I have the right mindset, happiness will come my way. And ultimately, my main goal is to be happy. Frowning uses more muscles & energy while smiling uses less. So why frown when you can smile? (:

Anyway, CCA Extravaganza was today. It was the Sec 4s' last one ): I danced my heart out, didn't make any mistakes, so I guess I'm satisfied with myself. I wonder what the new Sec 1 dancers would be like. Can't wait till we have 4 levels dancing together again. 3 more months till we step down, I want to make the best out of my last few days. Holding on to every moment.

It was the first ballet class of the year as well. I didn't feel as rusty as I expected. I guess dance helped me to prepare for my first ballet class after the holidays. My muscles were warmed up after CCA Ex haha.

We got back our Intermediate Foundation results. I got 75/100 which is just Distinction. Im really truly honestly surprised that I got Distinction. I totally expected myself to get Merit. Distinction seemed out of my range. Yay!

First week has been busy. I feel so exhausted and I already need a break. Hopefully the rest of the year will continue smoothly.
