Rooted in Nature: The Quiet Power of Copper Willow Leaf Clip-On Earrings

Image

There’s something beautifully grounding about the shape of a willow leaf—its gentle taper, its graceful line, its quiet strength. That same energy is captured in these copper willow leaf clip-on earrings, which are quickly becoming one of my favorite pieces to share.

Crafted from lead-free pewter and plated in antiqued copper, these earrings celebrate simplicity, texture, and nature’s elegance. Each leaf is etched with care, creating a subtle dimensional pattern that catches the light without shouting for attention. They’re long and slender, but surprisingly lightweight—easy to wear, easy to pair.

And yes, they’re clip-ons. I always get excited about finding or creating beautiful options for those who don’t have pierced ears. The screw-back clip is comfortable and adjustable, making these earrings a great choice whether you’re dressing up a flowy dress or adding a touch of rustic charm to denim and a tee.

These earrings speak to lovers of the natural world—those who feel most themselves walking through woods, tending to plants, or seeking a bit of calm in the everyday. They fit effortlessly into earthy, boho, and cottagecore wardrobes and make a thoughtful gift for anyone who treasures handcrafted, nature-inspired details.

Whether you’re drawn to the symbolism of the willow (resilience, flexibility, and connection to the earth) or simply love their sculptural style, these earrings are a little reminder to stay rooted—and stay true to you.

Want to add them to your jewelry box?
They’re available now in my shop, and as always, lovingly packed and shipped with care.

My solution for deer-proof gardening

Image

Here are some of the plants on my back porch – hosta, begonia, sweet potato vine and violets. My yard has a lot of large trees and deer so planting things in the yard was not working. The trees take all of the water and nutrients and the damn deer ate my hostas. Y’all know that’s wrong. So this is what I do now and I love that I can see my back porch from my work area.

Handmade Jellyfish Earrings: Unique Ocean-Inspired Accessories

Image

There’s something magical about jellyfish—the way they float, glow, and pulse through water like otherworldly beings. That inspiration comes to life in these handmade jellyfish earrings, crafted from digitally manipulated artwork and brought into the physical world with handpainted detail.

Each pair is made from sturdy art paper, designed to be lightweight yet durable. The glowing jellyfish against a deep black background creates a dramatic, dreamy effect that’s perfect for anyone drawn to ocean life, fluid movement, or unique statement accessories.

Whether you’re heading to an art festival, beachside market, or just want to wear something expressive and handmade, these earrings deliver serious visual impact with almost no weight. And because each pair is hand-finished, no two are exactly alike—just like jellyfish in the wild.

I love working with digital images, holding a paintbrush in my hands and creating a tiny piece of art.

Ancient Vibes: Working with Rustic Buddha Pendants

Image

As a jewelry maker, I’m constantly drawn to pieces that feel like they’ve carried stories through time. This rustic Buddha pendant is one of those pieces—it’s made of aged metal, framed in gold tone, and has the quiet presence of something sacred.

What I love most is the surface. It’s not shiny or perfect. It’s weathered, worn, and beautifully imperfect—like it’s been held, worn, or meditated on for years. That texture makes it such a powerful component for spiritual designs or grounding, earthy jewelry.

Whether you’re making a protective charm, mala necklace, or just want to create something with soul, a pendant like this invites you to go deeper. It’s more than an accessory—it’s energy, history, and presence all in one.

Changing My Etsy Cover Photo

I had been using this as my Etsy cover photo for a couple of years and I loved it.

Image

But now that I am changing how I photo my jewelry and the overall feeling of my shop, I thought it was time for a change.

I wanted something simpler, darker, something where you couldn’t quite tell what it was, something to set a moodier tone.

This is what I came up with:

Runner’s up:

I have a folder on my laptop that’s a little museum of my Etsy cover photos and banners. I have come a long way. Canva helps.

The Problem With Busyness

People, I am an expert at being busy. I always have a long list of things to do. If I think I need (want) to, I can more find stuff to do. I can even make up stuff to do.

There is nothing wrong with being busy. If the busyness is focused in the right direction. If I am achieving desired results. If I am doing things that actually need doing and will matter. If I don’t live in the weeds. If I step back periodically to look at the bigger picture, reassess and adjust.

I use Asana for task management. Here’s how it looks today. I do run behind at times as you can see. But I will get it under control.

What Started This?

What got me on this path of self-exploration, change and transition that I find myself embarked upon? Two factors: a new camera and Pixsy (image theft detection software).

I know I had my old camera at least 15 years and should have bought a new one years ago. My photos didn’t meet Etsy’s current minimum standards and haven’t for a good while. But buying a new camera meant learning how to use a new camera and the thought of that made me put it off. And off.

Finally, this summer, I broke down and after some research, bought a Canon R7. I used books, the user’s manual and a lot of YouTube tutorials to begin to learn how to use it. I say begin, because even though I am getting what I think are passable photos, I have so much more to learn. I need to stop and take the time. Problem area.

Here’s my photo setup –

The other catalyst was Pixsy. I loaded a lot of photos into it and some of the matches it found were my own items in Etsy search. There is no connection between Pixsy and my Etsy shop, so it doesn’t know the photos are mine until I tell it. Seeing my photos in many, many varied Etsy searches up against the field made me realize that a lot of mine just weren’t that great.

So, here we are. Time for improvement.

I Kinda Knew

I’ve come to realize that I’m not that happy with my Etsy shop, but it has taken a while for it to dawn on me. Sometimes I have problems feeling my feelings. It’s like my feelings are buried and speaking in a very quiet voice and it can take me a while to get it.

Not that the Universe didn’t try to tap me on the shoulder a time or two to get my attention. It did. I was talking with another business owner about our businesses and he asked to see my shop. I hesitated and brushed him off. I now realize that did it because I wasn’t proud to show off my shop.

I’ll close with this picture of a wise owl necklace. Pendant from the always wonderful Green Girl Studios.

Wisdom. Self-awareness. Acknowledgement and acceptance. Time to shift and make a change.
