Breakfast - The Most Important Meal of the Day!

Image
Kyra and David are making blueberry muffins this morning! One of the great joys of life is to sit down to a meal with our family. Our world is falling apart and one of the simple things that families can do is to eat together. Let the table be a time of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Gal 5:22-23) Our children are the most valuable thing in our lives besides our relationship with one another and with the Lord Jesus! We want to be a family that invests quality time in our children! By the way, boots and pajamas are optional when preparing muffins!

A Different Perspective

Image
It’s cleaning day at the Chesser home—okay so cleaning day should have been a week ago or more—but for those of you who know me (or have been to my home) know that if there is a choice between having fun or cleaning…I ALWAYS choose having fun. You know it is amazing how God speaks to us in the ordinary things of life. As I was cleaning and thanking the Lord for our beautiful home…I came to the place I dread the most…the dreaded bathrooms. I just don’t like to clean the bathroom or more particular…the toilet. As I geared up with my gloves, bleach and 10 other spray bottles and prepared to do battle…I realized what a humbling task cleaning a toilet is. I mean really to get on your hands and knees and clean the toilet can humble any of us. I’m leading our Sunday School class through Ray Pritchard’s “He is God and You are Not” and I’m being reminded of just how big and holy He really is. I know this of course—but to be reminded that He needs me for nothing!! Yet in His love and grace He allows me to serve Him. Leading a class is an excruciatingly humble experience (as is parenting) to think that God who has redeemed me of all that gross sin (kind of like my toilet) yet in His love and grace—allows me to share His Word. Wow!!!

As we continue cleaning…I am blessed with two little helpers who as long as you give them the Windex bottle and a wad of paper towels..they are happy to help!! Then I get to spend the next 10 minutes cleaning up the dripping mess and streaks. But what a joy!! Again I’m reminded of our Heavenly Father, who watches us fumble and think we are doing such a great job at the task at hand….and then He grins as He gently cleans up the mess we’ve made. He reminds us that even our good works are as filthy rags…the only good I do—is Him doing it in me. The only good others see in me—is the Christ that I allow to radiate through. Thank you Lord for humbling me as I kneel to clean the toilets..but thank you even more for your love and unending grace. Thank you also Lord for an incredible man who sweeps and mops floors—my second most dreaded task. (sorry ladies—eat your hearts out…he’s taken)

May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help fromt he sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah

May He grant you according to your heart's desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions. (Psalm 20:1-5)
