God is Faithful
This time of year can often be stressful for me as I evaluate our previous school year and get excited about the possibilities of the next year. I have been trying to make determination of what to do for Kyra for 2nd grade. Our area homeschool association holds an annual book fair. Well after spending 2 hours and $17 I was able to get Kyra's 2nd grade math, science, history/geography; health/safety; 3rd grade math and several fun resource books. It was a fun day. God is so good. Oh and all I had left was my Bob Jones Reading/Phonics and came home and realized I saw a book that is $25 on the free table...so I hurried up and went back. See shopping is an art and does come in handy.

Kiddos on Horses

My children absolutely LOVE horses. David rode a horse by himself for the first time and Kyra went again with the "crew" to gather a pasture. Rody gave some friends a perfect picture of discipleship the other night and here it is illustrated. First David rides wtih his dad....then dad leads him on his horse...then D will ride on his own. Katie SCREAMED when we took her off and if the horse stopped she would bounce in the saddle to go again. You know I think of the verse talking about the Lord giving us the desires of our hearts...my kids would definitely be a horse. Oh and and picture of bottle feeding Nate the calf for good measure.

Aren't They Cute
Creative Kids

Sometimes my kids just make me laugh...okay I am with them all day so they make me laugh a lot. I laughed as yesterday DAvid tried to use "permission" in a sentence and it wasn't quite right, but wow what a vocabulary. I love when he says "Well actually mom..."
While being dictated a radio spot over the phone the other day..the kids found the yarn and this was my house.

Peace and Quiet

As many of you have seen the national news...our little corner of the world is making BIG time news with the Mormon sect and a tornado hitting in the middle of the night Wednesday night. Despite all that ... there was normalacy and calm in our little corner of the world. In our backyard. Oh to keep them from the scary things of this world.
Sweet Words
Do you ever have a time in your quiet time with His Word that you read something and it is just honey to your soul? It feeds you, encourages you, washes over you? I'm reading in Isaiah and it reads Is 59:21 "As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the Lord. "My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever says the Lord."
What sweet words to know as we place His words in our mouth, that with His Spirit on us His words will not depart our mouths or generations to come!! Praise God! Have you heard the song "I want to leave a legacy...how will they remember me." I think of that often and what I want my children and their children to remember me for and it is definitely my faith and how I walked with the Lord.

Saturday Fun
Okay I cannot believe I forgot my camera on this one. We spent Saturday afternoon in the country with friends and our kids got to ride go-carts and get this...motorcycles. Rody learned to ride and Kyra rode with Alan while David rode with Rody. They thought it was the best ever. Katie loved 'driving' the go-cart especially when we rode with Rody and he went fast. So now Kyra has decided we have to split our savings for a horse and now a motorcycle. :-)

Challenge
Nothing like a challenge to get you going on a Monday. We had an incredible time with Kevin Kirkland in our church last night challenging us on the next generation. Something he said that really stuck with me..."What you plant will grow." God challenged me...where am I sowing and what am I reaping? He also asked "Who is following you?" and "Where are you taking them?" Two GREAT questions.
Then as I read in my quiet time this morning in 1 Samuel, God just spoke and spoke to me. As I thought of what repentance looks like we see Israel mourning and actively seeking the Lord (1 Sam 7:2) They were told to remove idols and commit themselves to the Lord and serve Him only (v3) then they fasted and confessed their sins (v6). Then he speaks of an Ebenezer (a stone of remberance & help) v. 12. Do you have a stone of help? Thank the Lord for those. I have several "stones" where I look back and know it was the Lord providing and guiding. Then I love the story of Saul. We all seem (okay I do) to remember his failures but God chose him and in verse 9:6 it says "The spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power....and you will be changed into a different person" That is what should happen when God's spirit invades our lives...we are changed into NEW, DIFFERENT people. Then in 1 Sam 10:9 "God changed Saul's heart." Oh how we despartely need a heart transplant. For God to take the old and make it new. So as you go today...who's following you? and in order to lead them, does God need to make you different?

Discipleship
God has shown me a beautiful picture of discipleship recently. The other day Rody was out mowing the lawn. David ran in the garage and got Katie's plastic little plastic lawn mower and proceeded to mow right along side his dad. Then little Katie today when I was vacuuming went to her room and got her little vacuum. We are constantly making disciples whether we know it or not. I am reading a great book recommended to me by Tyra--The Lost Art of Disciple Making. It is an older book but very good.
Blessed
This morning in my quiet time I read a great passage of scripture in Psalms
Ps 32:1
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.
Ps 32:2
Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputeth not iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no guile.
You truly are blessed if you are coved by the blood of Chirst. To think because we live on this side of the cross we KNOW (that we know, that we know) our transgressions are forgiven and our sin is forgiven. Imagine being an Israelite and sacrificing just for God to "pass over" your sins for another year. Yet we often take for granted the grace and mercy He extends us. Today I just praise you Lord. You tell us our sins are removed as far as the east is from the west, and they are at the bottom of the ocean's floor (no wonder contemporary bands write songs on this). Wow--when I think of the sins of mine He paid for I am humble and so, so thankful!!!
