My Roomies

Image

We have a great group of youth kids at our church and during camp I got to room with the youth. I have learned that was a real plus (especially when it was time to pack up--b/c they can do it on their own). We had a lot of fun and squealed A LOT as we discovered scorpions and spiders in our room. Ugh!!

Faith in the Blood

What a beautiful morning! We awoke this morning to the sound of rain gentling pounding outside. Thank you Lord for the much needed rain. As I was reading in my quiet time this morning, I was reading in Exodus about the last plague and the passover. Then I have a devotional that goes along with bible reading and it brought 2 things to my attention as it correlated the passover to the death of Christ. 1) The Passover lamb was killed in his prime-- just like Christ 2) The Israelites had faith in the blood that was over their doorposts just as we put our trust in the blood of Christ. Having been a follower of Christ for many years now, I still have times where I am just in awe of it all!! That God became man and died for me is often more than I can get my mind around. And through faith in Him and the blood He shed to pay the penalty for my sin...I am redeemed, free, no longer a slave (just like the Israelites in Egypt)...is just amazing. Thank you Lord Jesus!

Here they are working on crafts and then Rody is working with his team to build a "Mr. Potatoe Head" transporter. It was great. BTW, my team always beat Rody's no matter which team we coached...not that we were competitive or anything.

Blogger Friends

Okay all you blogger friends...I'm thinking of posting pics to the blog in a separate type viewer but don't have a clue. That way I can post more than 2 or 3 and people who are interested can look. So if you know how to do this, please let me know!! :-)

Nothing without love

Aww...I just saw the picture of our family in the hospital when Katie was born. Wow they grow up too fast. But that is not why I'm writing..
I'm reading in 1 Cor 13 (the love chapter this morning) and basically...without love we are nothing. I love that this chapter is "sandwhiched" between the chapters on the different giftings within the body. I have recently changed to the KJV and there are a lot of times that things sound so different that it is like reading it for the first time. But I love some things the word of God says about love...
-it suffereth long -it is kind (if I have love, I will be kind) -(I love this b/c it sounds proper) Love does not behave itself unseemly -It does not seek its own (ouch) -it is not easily provoked (that one really hurts and that will be a good one to focus on with the kids today) -It does not rejoice in inquity but rejoices in the truth (that seems to be lacking greatly in our world today). Wow!! Take time today to think about those things...when you are standing in line FOREVER at Wal-Mart or dealing with irritable people...remember love suffereth long...it is kind...it is not easily provoked.
Oh I have a funny Katie story for you. David was in the bath last night and Katie was kind of being my shadow when I was in the living room folding clothes. I heard David talking to her so I knew she was near the bath. All of a sudden I hear this blop! I yelled at David "Did she fall in" the reply was "Yeah! In her clothes" I went in and she must have got in b/c her head wasn't wet, but there she sat with a huge grin...shirt, diaper and all!!! I think of all my three water babies...she loves it the most!

Independence

On his 4th birthday (actually he has been asking for a while) David convinced dad and Paw-Paw that he could ride his bike without training wheels. So they took them off...Rody ran beside him for about 2 1/2 houses, made a turn and he was off! He never looked back!! We are amazed at the little guy. He is even going off the curb without crashing!!

Happy Birthday David

Last week we celebrated David's 4th Birthday! I cannot believe he is four. I so vividly remember bringing him home from the hospital and him as a little baby. David had a great birthday and got to celebrate at Mr. Gatti's. He loved getting to play games and open presents. The birthday cake was Kung Fu Panda (or just a panda bear head since that is the cake pan I had for him). He got some really great "boy" gifts....a skateboard (which he is doing so well on), a bow and arrow, a leatherman and water guns that they had a blast dousing each other with after church last night. David is such a blessing to our family. He is such a sweet little boy who loves to help his momma cook.

Here are some more pics. We capped off the day with dinner at Red Lobster! David can eat his weight in crab legs and will have butter dripping down his chin by the time it is all over. Then we came home and spent the rest of the evening laughing at little sister who would get tangled up in the balloons and just squeal.

The Beginning of It All

Image
Our family went to Oklahoma last weekend to celebrate Rody's (his mom's side) grandparents 65th Wedding Anniversary. 65 Years ago John Perry wed Nina Elam and began this family. As we had the chance to look at the families that have come out of that union... Wow! We had a great time to visit with aunts, uncles and lots of cousins! What a great thing to show children and grandchildren that you have stuck together through the tough times, rejoiced in the good times, shared in all the new births (spiritually and physically).

Scroll down I've posted a lot this am.

Lots of Swimming

This last weekend my kids proved you stay in a pool forever and not get water logged. Aunt Trudy has a pool in her back yard and as soon as we could get out of the car, through the house...the kids had on their suits. Even little Ms. Katie. She loves the water. So we had a big time swimming. We swam before pictures, after pictures (until bedtime) and then were back in the pool before 8 the next morning!! They had this cool little thing that would pull you around the pool that D thought was great! Here is Spencer and Kyra--a little fuzzy.

Here is a picture (sort of--I had to stay to the side so Katie wouldn't see me and cry) of all the grand kids and great grand kids. Then Connie (Rody's mom) with her dad and brother Steve. A cousin Niki and Kacey (Rody's Sister). After family pictures, Trudy hosted an incredible time at her house and the kids swam, everyone visited and OF COURSE...we ate. It was so yummy. Here is Cousin Chris, Rody and Rody's dad Ross.

I know it has been a week or longer. It has been so busy. I had these great visions of a relaxed summer where I played with kids and we caught up on school stuff and it has just been crazy!!! So sorry I haven't posted in a week.

We had our neighbors over last week to make donuts and the kids had a blast--Ms. Katie Bug was right in the middle of it and the noise decibal..well I'm sure all the neighbors wondered what we were doing!

Dog Days of Summer

We got to enjoy 2 swimming parties last week. First our Awana end-of-year swim party and then we had an end-of-year homeschool swim party. They have this neat facility here that has a swimming pool with a slide into the kiddie pool, 2 slides into the big pool and 2 diving boards. Plus a park, bounce house and picnic tables. The kids had a blast in the freezing water. :-)

Let's Go Fly A Kite

Image
Image
My friends in Eastern NM will get a kick out of this one. We got some awesome new kites from Granny at Easter and have been waiting for a good windy day to fly them. We've had a few days like that (but I forget about the kites). Well we had a pretty good one on Monday so David, Katie and I pulled out the kites. They had a blast...I had a hard time explaining wind gusts to David and why it would fly for a while and then fall. :-)

What do you want to be?

Image
Image
My kids love to dress up and we always ask "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Earlier this week David squirted every possible thing outside with water b/c it was all "on fire". Then he had Katie as his deputy writing tickets. :-) They are so much fun and are growing too fast. I hope your summer is filled with sweet memories of sleepy morning cuddling, wet footprints on your floor, popsicle stained mouths, your little one backing up to sit in your lap for "one more book" -- that of course you have already read 20 times that day.... can we go for a walk mommy? Let's do art mommy. Let's swim some more...oh the sweet days of summer. Oh and my favorite. Why do we have to take a bath...we swam today!!
