Do I have news for y'all. First thing is transfers. I am serving in
Bear Creek still and with District Leader Bleazard. That's right, same
companion and he is now District Leader. For those who don't know
mission leadership. the mission president is like the prophet and he
has Assistants to the President who are like the counselors for him
and then Zone leaders which would be like Stake Presidents and
District leaders which would be like a bishop. I hope that makes
sense. I'm no longer driving and it's kinda nice. Only kinda, Elder
Bleazard scares me a little. I'll be honest.
Well we have a few new investigators and they seem awesome. We have
one lady we started to teach this week. She was a referral from a
member who did her hair and we had dinner with that member this week
and had time after so we stopped by her. First we called her and she
told her self she would call us later and then we showed up and she
was happy. We taught the Restoration and she really liked it and she
started crying when we shared James 1:5 with her and she didn't stop
until we left. She didn't stop crying that is. But It was awesome.
Then on Saturday we went back and got to meet her two sons and they
are all awesome and want to be baptized and so we will set a date this
week with them. I'm so excited for them. We got a new investigator
last night who is a JR. in high school and she wants to be baptized
and we set a date with her. I hope it turns out. September 22 is the
date for her.
I have to tell you about something I learned this week. we have a less
active man that it's always an adventure when we go visit him. There
is a story after every visit. Anyway, I learned you do not go visit
him at the end of the day after a long busy day and being dead tired,
every little thing is funny and it's a lot harder not to laugh. It
didn't help when while he was reading and acting like nothing is
happening he stands up steps to the right and walks backwards, goes
about 6 or so feet back into the other room and then walks back and
sits down. He had made comments about how he likes sitting in his
chair in the other room, because for the first time we sat at his
table and I thought he was going to sit in his chair but he didn't. It
was so funny. I love that man.
Also, I have to tell you about
church!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lady and her sons there for sacrament meeting then they had to leave,
but we also had Destiny which is a girl were teaching in a group of
kids at an apartment complex and her brother and youngest sister was
there which I didn't think I'd see her sister there because she is so
young and her mom said she could come because she was so young. Well
at the end of church we was talking to them and there wonderful
fellowshipper who gives them rides to and from church and to a bigger
surprise in walks the mom looking really good to pick up the kids. The
mom has been committed to come to church next week. and we got a
baptism date for Destiny and that is
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been working with her for a while and have been working on
getting her parents to give her permission because neither of them are
members and Destiny is so ready for baptism and what to get baptized
sooooooooooo bad. The date for her is September 8th and so PLEASE PRAY
that goes as plan. So much happened yesterday that I never thought
would come.
Also church was really good. Sacrament meeting was good the one lady
who spoke gave an awesome talk that I loved and she gave me her talk
because I asked for a copy of it. It is way awesome and is simple for
like investigators and that. Then the man talked a lot about Martin
Harris and it was good. Martin Harris is important to me for those who
don't know his brother is my Great-great-great grandfather.
Then at dinner the cutest thing happen. I was talking to one of the
little girls in the family. I was talking to all the kids and asking
their names, age and grade in school and things like that, well I got
to one of the little girls that is 4 years old, Sam, and I asked her
if she like church, "I don't talk to strangers." "oh, that's okay, I'm
Elder Carter and I'm a missionary. I go around and tell people about
Jesus." and then at dinner she wanted to pray and she got picked and
then before she closed she said" and thank you for the missionary
that's not a stranger." It was so cute. She was so adorable.
Anyway, all is well and I'm doing great. I love y'all and hope all is
well back home. I wish y'all a great year for those that started
school. Take care and I love y'all so much.
Remember to Pray for Destiny and her baptism.
