Deja vu. Sad but true.

Image
What are the chances that this unfortunate weather would foil our family campout in April and in Arizona?  Well don't bet on those odds.  This is actually the second campout that our tent has caved in during the wee hours of the morning due to heavy snow.  A few summers ago we went camping in Bryce Canyon with the entire Steele family when we ironically experienced the same crazy weather.  SNOW, SNOW, SNOW.  Danny planned the trip in great detail, but to our dismay, he couldn't plan the weather.  Although this wasn't exactly what we had in mind when we thought of enjoying the great outdoors, we still had a great time!

My Son the Walrus

ImageCan you tell what we had for dinner?  After eating their ribs, Gavin and Tatum washed the bones and tried to convince me of all the creative ways they could use them.  After taking this photo I promptly disposed of the bones to prevent some future uncovering of a "burial ground" under someone's bed.

Ah Springtime...

Ok so I haven't been the best blogger, but it's because I have been very sick...with SPRING FEVER!  The weather here in AZ has been spectacular for the last few weeks.  We're talking cloudless, sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 70's with crisp, cool evenings.    It's absolutely invigorating!  We've been busy playing at the park, hiking, playing tennis and biking the dog.   Jealous?  You should be.  At least for now, because in August when I have to wear oven mitts to drive my car I'll be wishing I lived anywhere but here.

Dream Day

Image
While Britney was still in the hospital under constant care (or shall we say interruption) of nurses, Aftin and I went to DISNEYLAND!  It was just the two of us.  It was awesome!  It was the first time in well over a decade that I have done it without a cumbersome stroller...very liberating.  It's true, Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth!

First stop - The Mad Hatter to buy some official monogrammed Minnie Ears.

Next stop - Pirates of the Carribean.  Aftin did NOT want to repeat this ride.

In the afternoon we met up with Aftin's friends from home, Adrie and Andi.  They happened to be visiting the park on the same day!

My favorite part of the day - when we were riding back to the parking lot late at night.  Aftin had Minnie Mouse tucked securely under her little arm when she looked up at me with bright eyes and said, "Thanks for a great day mom!"

Taking the plunge

So I'm finally doing it.  I'm starting a blog.  I've been ogling the blogs of others for some time now, but my misgivings about lack of time and worthwhile material have paralyzed me.  Danny, my charming husband, surprised me with a super-cool new camera and a flashy laptop over the holidays so that I could realize my blogging fantasy.  I feel a lot of pressure to be artistic and witty.
I'm currently in California, staying to help my sister who just had her first baby.  Both my sister and her husband are great bloggers who have been coaxing me to come aboard.  Well, Britney and Mike ultimately squelched all my excuses for not having done it already, and here I am. They're right.  I will find the time.  I will find stuff to chronicle.

p.s. baby zoey is beautiful and i miss my family in az.
