Life at our House

Life has been pretty fun at our house. The boys are hilarious and they say the funniest things.  They also have some pretty hilarious facial expressions....together they are a riot.  Here are some pictures from the last couple months...

We went and visited Grandma and Grandpa Ricks. Grandpa taught the boys how to roast hot dogs since they never had before...they didn't like the fire once it was going but Gavin sure did love blowing it out when Grandpa was lighting it.

Cornbellys...So Orin has been begging us to go to Cornbellys and we went...it was fun and Orin now asks if we can go back everyday.

Dinner...corn on the cob and Turkey leg. It was like we were at the fair. Which was nice since we didn't get to go to the fair this year.

Boys got to climb up a tractor and sit inside. They loved it so much Gavin threw a huge fit when I had to carry him out of it.

Image

They went down these big slides. Orin was scared to go by himself so Dad joined him.

Gavin playing on the toys there.

The boys have been loving muffins lately. I made them zucchini muffins and then chocolate zucchini and this weekend we made strawberry muffins. They were pretty good. I have noticed that if I give them a muffin in the morning they are really good when we get ready for daycare. Here they are hanging out just chatting and laughing eating their muffins. It is like they were telling each other little jokes cuz they would look at each other and bust up laughing... I love when they are friends.

Camping.

I decided I wanted to go camping and Joel wanted to stay home so we decided to go camping at home. I made tin foil dinners.

Here is Orin enjoying his tin foil dinner.

Joel loving it...except the carrots were kind of crunchy.

We put up the tent.... of course the boys helped out.

We went to Cascade Springs. It was a nice little hike that the boys loved all the water.

Gavin is 1

Wow how the time flies! Gavin turns one on Wednesday the 12. We had his birthday party on Saturday. There was a lot of preparation for the party that the boys helped me with while dad was at work. They were really good at helping shopping and cleaning the house.

Orin was a little sad the night before the party because he wanted his party and wanted his friends to be there. Daddy told him that our friends are his friends. We are all friends and it turns out that was true. Orin made new friends and had lots of fun with his friends.

So the day of was also Nixon's party (Lance's son). Orin was very excited to go to his party and he loved it. Gavin just loves being with his family where ever we go as long as we are all together he is happy. So we stopped by but felt bad we had to leave early. They did have a beaver show up as a guest and both our boys loved him Gavin gave him hugs and kisses. Orin did not want to leave until lance told him the beaver left out the front door. The whole way home Orin said "I don't see the beaver. I liked him." It was pretty cute.

We didn't get as many guests because of weather and sickness, but we had a great time with the ones that came. Gavin loved everything! I think he knew it was a special celebration for him. He only had a 20 min nap all day but was so happy about everything. We are really lucky to have two happy, funny, smart boys. They are both very entertaining. Here are some pictures from the party.

 The invitations.

The cake I made for Gavin to eat. It wasn't my best but he liked it and that is what is important.

The decorations. I saw this on pinterest and it was pretty easy and turned out pretty awesome.  Orin loved them. He said he wants some red and blue ones for his birthday since it is going to be Spider-Man.

Image

Living room Decorations. I made the little cards to put in a scrap book for Gavin. I did this for Orin and he loves to look at it .  It says 1 min, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 2 months and so on.

Image

Pin the Mustache on Gavin...This was a lot of fun to play. I cut out the mustache but it looks a lot like lips to me.

Image

A close up of the cake that we bought from Costco....it was huge! We have tons left and it tastes pretty good. We have Gavin's favorite treats - m&m's, licorice and swedish fish.

Image

This is our friend Sarah. and Gavin (he is wearing a batman shirt I made him). I made him and Orin batman shirts. I also made Orin a spiderman and I made Gavin one that says I am 1.

Gavin in his birthday shirt with his mustache put on him.

Gavin looking at Dad when he gave him the cake...he wasn't so sure about it.

Image

We had to put his hands down. He kept trying to grab the fire on the candle.

Image

The happy 1 year old with his cake.

Image

Our boys don't really enjoy being messy so the cake is fun for a little bit but then they are done.  He ate the white frosting around the top. He loved it!

Image

Sorry so blurry - Orin wearing his mustache.

Joel with his mustache

This is BJ with his mustache...it makes me think of Mario.

They are spinning Archer to put the mustache on Gavin.

This is a picture of Orin putting it on later that night. We got his on video but my computer wouldn't up load it.

Gavin got some cool stuff that he loved but he love the car in his hand and the box of legos the most.

Image

He couldn't decide if he wanted to drive the car on the box or sit on it. He kept getting up and driving it and then turning around and sitting down on it. he did it like 6 times.

The 2 of them playing with the cars.

Gavin playing with his legos.

Image

His new favorite thing is to look out the front windows on the side of the door.

Image

The boys riding on the bike with Sarah. They always do this with me...I don't know why they think it is so fun. It makes me exhausted when I am riding the bike.

We had a really fun day and weekend. We are so happy for Gavin. He brings a  lot of joy to our home and we are so grateful for him.  Happy Birthday Gavin!
