Delhi-Special Surprise

The hotel we stayed at in New Delhi was the Hilton Garden Inn. This hotel is recommended among the adoption community because the staff is amazing and it is attached to a mall. Well both proved to be true...and it was not one mall but three!!  The rooms are VERY tiny but clean. We woke up the next day ready for Elliott's medical appointment at 11:00. I was also excited to meet our Delhi guide Abhi. Abhi helps out adoptive families and all of her earnings go to underprivileged children. We went down to the lobby around 9:45 to meet Abhi. I had Elliott in the carrier as he was a little fussy. We were sitting there waiting when the elevator opened.....out popped two little brown girls who I recognized. I gasped and yelled Khushboo and Kashila!!  It was 2/3 of my dear friend Kristians newly adoptive daughters. They were of course excited to hear their names even though they had no idea who I was. There dad Lance was also there. I ran and hugged him and gave the girls a high fiv...

The Day After

November 11th The day after gotcha day I woke up, well I should say got out of bed. I if course didn't sleep. I spent the night in prayer and watching my miracle sleep. I was surprised at how well Elliott slept. He woke up happy as could be(still does). He was already pretty famous around the hotel so he had a few people to meet. Everyone loved him to pieces and was shocked at how attached he was to me.  We even ventured down to the restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, we started getting our bags ready. The van picked us up around 12:30 for a 4:00 flight. Elliott was amazing at the airport though he didn't sleep at all. Then it was time to board the plane. It was then I got my first glimpse of Elliott's alter ego. He screamed and threw a tantrum in the boarding line. It was so bad that they let me cut everyone to get him on the plane. Once I got his blanket out, he was fine. My boy sure is stubborn. The flight had a quick layover but we didn't have to get of...

Mumbai

Now that I am home in beginning to settle in I am going to try to re-count my trip to India. I will start with Mumbai before Gotcha Day. My mom flew in from Buffalo and Tuesday, November 4 you spend the next couple of days just preparing ourselves for the long journey. Our flight left at 6:30 PM on Thursday, November 6th. That afternoon my two good friends Stephanie and Susan came over to play with us and help prepare our nerves for the journey. I am blessed to have both of them in my life and they have both adopted sweet little girls from India so we will forever be connected. My best friend Erika picked us up from the airport and we were on our way around 3 o'clock. The flights were long and uneventful. The last leg of the flight from London to Mumbai was very cramped and we both struggle to be comfortable. Neither of us slept more than a few hours the entire trip. Only arrived in by you were exhausted in our luggage took over an hour. By the time we got to our hotel it was ...

Gotcha Day

When you adopt you are told to expect the worst but pray for the best. I am proud to say that my forever family day could NOT have gone better. Sit back, pour yourself a glass of wine and eat some dairy(I miss both). And please excuse the mistakes as I am typing this from my iPhone. I was told my in country rep was meeting my mom and me in the hotel lobby at 10:00. He had to drive three hours to Mumbai so I was aware he might be late. I was so nervous I had dinasours in my stomach. At 9:30 we went down to the lobby to wait. The internet in the hotel was horrible and the lobby seemed to be the best place to try and get it. No such luck. So I sat there nervously watching the seconds tick by. Finally at 10:00 our agency rep showed up. He briefed us on possible senerios and within 15 minutes we were off. The orphanage was a 15 minute drive. He outside had a large fence and was surrounded by Palm trees and banana trees. After signing in we were lead to the office to talk to the directo...

Here We Go

I cannot believe I am saying that tomorrow at this time I will be high in the sky on my way to India to be united with my son. April 2012 seems like a dream. I never imagine when I started my homestudy that God would choose such a perfect child for me. He has no idea of the love that is waiting for him on the side of the world. I am so very humbled by what amazing friends and family that I have. Elliotts story has even touched some strangers who have prayed and donated along the way. The reality is setting in that not only am I taking the trip of a lifetime to but I will come home with a child in my arms. Those that know my mom know what a heart of gold she has. She flew in today to begin this journey with me and she is so excited to meet her grandbaby. Her job is easy on this trip, keep me calm! Okay I am lying because those that know me know I have been anything but calm these last few days. She has a tough job ahead of her but she is ready to go. I could not have asked for a bette...
