Can't forget Jay

This kid never surprises me. Only because it is summer does he want to pull out all of his winter stuff. I think the funniest part are the gloves on the feet. He looks like the penguin! He is constantly doing stuff like this. Funny things he has said lately:
-"Congratulations Dad, you blew a bubble."
-"It's OK Mom, I got it...I got it..."
-"I am just so good at eating corn on the cob." (As he turns and smiles and all I see is yellow corn in each and every tooth.)
-"Mom, sing that shake your booty song, but don't say booty, it's a bad word." (Sometimes I sing that to him when he is drying off after he gets out of the shower so he will dry his fanny.)
-"Can I have a sippy of that little water out of your muggy." ( I guess that is how I talk to Jensen or something?)

Back Story:

It all started with contractions that I was having on Thursday the 18Th. I had been having them off and on and headed to the hospital when they were close together. Later they sent me home because I was having no change. (Although they thought I should come back later that night to be checked, I was too worn out and didn't think much was going to happen anyway.) On Friday, the 19Th, Randy and I spent the day at the mall walking, the Rec Center walking and the neighborhood, walking. No contractions, so I planned on the 25Th being "my day." Luckily that day my Mom was coming to town. They got in late that night and when my Mom got to my house we stayed up until about 1:00am talking. She kept saying that I was going to have the baby and we were joking about me just waiting until she got here to have it. Well, that night I took a bath right before bed to just relax and went to bed at about 1:30 am.

The Fun Begins:

At 2:20am I woke up instantly to my water breaking. I was scared at first thinking that I had maybe just wet the bed or something, but soon realized it was uncontrollable. I woke up Randy right away. He sprung to his feet and got dressed at fire fighter speed. I was like, "Uh, wait, let me go to the bathroom first." Luckily we had all of our stuff packed and in the car already from the day before. So after I changed my clothes we were off. On our way out I thought I better grab at towel just in case. I grabbed a garage towel as Randy was pulling out of the garage. That towel saved my life. On the way to the hospital we were setting record speeds. With every contraction more water just poured out. I was so grateful to have that towel and a husband who knows what the words "drive fast" mean. We made it to the hospital by 2:40am. Normally it takes about 30 mins to get there, but we made it in about 10-15 min. (The scuttlebutt with the nurses at the hospital was that we were the couple from Springville whose water broke at 2:20am and how fast we made it there. Kinda funny.) Randy wheeled me in and I was so embarrassed that I had soaked the wheel chair. When I stood up I couldn't keep from laughing as the water poured down my legs and all over the floor. My awesome husband grabbed some gloves and went to work cleaning up my lovely bag of waters. At 2:45am I was dilated to a 5. My contractions were become really bad at this point and I squeezed Randy's hand until I thought my hand would break. I thought I did really well telling him not to touch/rub me only three times. (In between contractions I was his best friend. During contractions I wanted nothing to do with him.) I got my Epidural at 3:30 am. I was in a happy place. I started to get super nauseous so they gave me some Zofran through the IV. (The last thing you want to do in labor is throw up. I know, I threw up with Jay.) By 4:30 am I was dilated to an 8 and 100% effaced and at a +1 station. Randy and I spent the time laughing and having fun. Joking that the throw up bowl they gave me looked like a horse condom. We also joked about what a great date night it was. At 5:00am I was feeling a little pressure so they checked me again and I was dilated to a 10 and a +2 station and ready to go! I started pushing, and on the 7Th push she was out. She was born June 20Th, 2009 at 5:10 am. She was 6 lbs 14 oz and 18.5 inches long. Her APGAR score was 7 because she was pretty blue and not crying, but soon became pink and her score went up to a 9. (Randy did really well at documenting everything.) I could not believe how easy it all was. All I kept saying was how much it felt like a dream and how cute she was. She didn't even look like a little alien. Our nurses were awesome and Dr. Parker was a stud. It was seriously the greatest experience ever. At 7:00am we went down to our room ate some breakfast and they cleaned up Jensen. Our hospital stay was great and felt like a 5 star hotel compared to where we had Jay. I can't say it enough. We are all doing well. Still adjusting to life with a little one. More pics to come and more info on our visitors and family.

False Alarm...

So, yesterday I was feeling pretty crappy. Still getting over my allergies/sickness I was also getting some tightening in my belly. Then I thought, wait a second I should probably be timing these. So Randy and I started timing them and the were about 5-8 min apart. (Note: these were pretty mild contractions, but quite consistent.) It then occurred that we should probably head to the hospital seeing as I don't really want Randy to deliver the baby. So we dropped off Jay at Aunt Kelly's and headed on our way. When we got there they did the usual monitoring and checking. I was still the same as everything at my appt last Tuesday. So they left us for an hour and checked again...nothing. No change. At this point is was about 4:30-5:00pm. They said I should go walk for a couple of hours and then come back. Well, I was so tired and feeling so lousy all I wanted to do was go home and lay in bed. So we stopped at Denny's for some dinner picked up Jay and headed home. I figured if it was going to happen that night it would even if I didn't walk. So I watched a movie took a bath and went to bed. We luckily had Uncle Kevin stay the night just in case we had to go in the middle of the night. But, nothing. I had mild contractions but nothing major.
So when we woke up this morning, we started our day of walking. We ran a few errands at first and then walked the mall. Up and down and back and forth. We soon got bored and headed over to the Rec Center and walked on their outside track. Then we came home for some lunch, I took a little 30 min nappy and then walked the neighborhood. I am tired. And still no heavy contractions.
The funny thing is is that the nurse was hesitant to send us home because she thought I was so close. She even said if we don't see you tonight, we should for sure see you tomorrow. She said I was already in the early stages of labor. Well, being dilated to a 4, don't ya think? So, I don't know what to think. Could go into labor in 5 min, could wait to be induced on Thursday....it's a waiting game and it SUCKS!

38 Weeks

Everything seems to be coming along. When I got to the Doc I was sure I had to have had some changes. Before he got started he asked me if I wanted my membranes stripped. I remember having this done with Jamison and within 48 hours I delivered him. So, at first I was really hesitant. (Wanting to wait until my 25Th induction date. Also the fact that Randy is working the next 3 days didn't make me excited.) So I said go ahead and check me and lets see. So he checked me and I was dilated to a 3+ and 75-80% effaced, still at station -1. So the Doc is like, "OK, I am here, what do you want me to do...." and I impulsively said, "Just do it!" I then closed my eyes real tight and let out a little whimper of pain. (Sorry if the thought of that grosses anyone out.) The Doc let me know that with that little exercise I am now dilated to a 4. So, it still could be any day now. I am still trying to hold out until the 25Th, but if I can at least wait until Friday I will be happy.

Down side is last night I got this instant sore throat that came out of no where. I was feeling fine all day, then at about 5:00pm my eyes started to water, my ears itched and my throat was closing in on me. I took a bath and a little nap, but still can't shake it. I am about 100% sure it is allergies because we had our windows open yesterday and when the clouds came and winds blew is when it all started. So, my hangy ball feels like a softball and it hurts to talk and swallow. Not the kinda thing I want when I have to push out a baby. I am going to take it SUPER easy and allow my body to rest and recuperate. Wish me luck!!!

What a stud!

I don't know at what age I learned to tie my shoe, but I think four is pretty good...

Family

Christensen Fam
Image
Saturday afternoon we got to meet up with the Christensen family. Which is my cousin Ashley, her husband Mike and their son Jack. We ate and visited and caught up on some old times. It was so great to see them. It was also a good excuse for the family to get together. As we were all leaving we saw this beautiful rainbow.

Springville Parade

On Saturday we sat along with Springville's finest and watched the parade. Randy had to work as always so Jay and I went with the Jamison's. They had some really good seats right in front. I think this was our first parade, but Jay thought it was SO awesome! Add in the fact that they throw candy at you, and it is even better!

This is Orem's float. The boys were waiting for more candy, but the girl on the float is saying, " Sorry, we don't have any!"

These are our good seats! We scored pretty big with the candy, coupons, water bottles, drinks, and body fragrance. Not too shabby. Jay now wants to go to a parade every Saturday.

Summerfest

Image
Image
I love this time of year because there are so many cool things to do. Luckily it was sunny long enough for us to sneak in a little time at Orem Summerfest. Jay is painting a basketball. They had free arts and crafts for the kids. Jay was most excited about the stamp he got on his hand. He liked it so much he asked if he could put it in his pocket. He also asked if he got to keep it forever. I gently let him know that it would probably only hang around until the next time he washed his hands.
Image
This year they had some army stuff there. Jay loved it because he said it looked just like Sarge from the movie Cars.
Image
Image
They also had life flight there. We got there just as it landed it was perfect timing.
Image
Randy was also working that day so we got to see him in action. Jay sat in the fire truck and drove for a while and then fiddled with things in the ambulance. His favorite part was getting to wear Dad's hat.
Image
He then had to play on the park equipment practicing his fire pole skills. (I don't have the heart to tell him firemen don't really use poles anymore.)
Image
Image
It was a great day. The down side was that we paid 3 dollars for a crappy snow cone and the fact that we had to park FOREVER away. I think my ankles are still swollen from the walk. Who knows, maybe it helped move this baby along? But, all in all, it was cool just to go.

End of Swimming lessons

Go Jay!
Image
We are so proud of Jamison and how far he has come. I love that we still have the rest of the summer for him to improve his skills. We are most excited that next year he can go strait to level one with out having to go to preschool 3! It is so fun to see him so excited about accomplishing his little goals. Thumbs up.

This is his teacher Elaine. She was probably laughing or humoring him about something crazy he was telling her. She was awesome.

Erin Ko and I

This is Erin and I when we were in high school. (Young Women's Activity) We took lovely pics of us because we knew we would both never marry. At least, no time soon. Boy, we were wrong.
*Check out that awesome camera quality

Image
12 years later....Look at us now. Who would have thought we would be having babies a month apart? I am due July 2nd and she is due August 2nd. It is so awesome to have friends who knew you before you even really knew yourself. Erin is so busy I rarely get to see her, but it is so fun when I do.
