My sis Cass emailed me this funny list. I picked out the ones that rang true to me. See if you are just like me...( I am not sure of the Author or else I would have posted that too.)
*The ones in color are me to a T
Random Thoughts of the Day:
-I wish Google Maps had an, "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
-More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.
-Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
-I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
-The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.
-Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no Internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft
-There is a great need for sarcasm font.
-I think everyone has a movie that they love so much; it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that every one's laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the only one who really, really gets it.
-How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
-I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in..
-The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.
-Was learning cursive really necessary?
-LOL has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".
-I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
-Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".
-How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said? ( My life story!)
-I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!
-While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.
-MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood
-I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.
-Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
-I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
-Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from; this shouldn't be a problem.....
-You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just are not doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
-Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.
-There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
-I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
-"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.
-I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren’t watching this. It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?'
-I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?Darn-it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
-I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
-I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.
-Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
-Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.
-Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I’d bet everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...
-The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There’s nothing like being made to feel fat before dinner.

Jamison is awesome!
Today was parent teacher conference for Jay's school. I was so excited to go to found out all about Jamison away from Randy and I. We were SO happy with the report. When I initially spoke with his teacher, before school started, I voiced my concerns. I was worried that he wouldn't be up to where he needed to be because he had never gone to preschool before and because he was almost a year younger than all the kids. Well, she said not to worry at all and that he is actually leading in the class. She also said that his confidence level has gone up 100%. He finishes his work before the teacher even explains it. But, she said he sits and quietly waits for the others to finish and he helps them too. She calls him her little greeter. He stands by the door and says hello to everyone who walks in and then always has to say good bye when he is leaving. All the kids love him and he makes the class more mellow. As a parent is is so nice to hear these things. I mean, randy and I know he is a great kid. It's just nice to know that he is like that when we are not around.
On another note...
Jamison can ride his bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS. After seeing a blog post that his friend Drew (who is younger then him) could do it, he was bound and determined that he could do it too. Lots of practice, a few crashes, some lost patience on both mine and Randy's part, and lots of will made it possible. We are so proud of him.

3 Months

Jensen was three months old a few days ago. I can't believe it has already been that long, yet I feel like we have always had her. I LOVE Jensen's personality. She is the happiest when she first wakes up. She is all smiles and coos. She hates being on her stomach and either cries the whole time or falls asleep. She loves TV and music. She really loves when Jay and I sing to her. Some of our hits are:
-Super Pooper (To the tune of Super Trooper by ABBA)
"Cause I'm a super pooper stink is going to find you, but it won't take long,
Smiling having fun, Cause I didn't go number 1."
-Dolly Pop (To the tune of lolly pop)
"Call my Jensen Dolly Pop, tell you why, her face is sweeter then a Cherry pie..." (you get the point)
-Getin the milky warm ( This is my own made up tune.) Jamison sings this so funny with actions. I will have to try and video it. I swear when I sing this to her she could care less that she is hungry, she loves it! Probably because I look like a big goof.
She is doing pretty well through the night. It is still kinda hit and miss as to her schedule. Every time I wake up in the night to feed her, I can't help but kiss her all over. I can honestly say I have never minded getting up in the night to be with her. I just sit and stare at her realizing how lucky we are to even have her. (Not to say I wouldn't love more sleep.) I feel just so lucky to have 2 sweet kids.

Food
*EDITED* if you want the recipe to any of these...just ask and I'll put it in a later post. :)
OK, so last week my obsession was sewing projects and this week, food. I have already made extra this week, Chili, pumpkin strudel, and 12 jars of peach jam. The weather is starting to cool which means I will probably bake everyday (and be as big as a house.) My friend Shelly had on her blog a list of dinners she makes to get some new ideas. I thought that was a good idea too. So, here are my dinners that I make:
Tacos
Meatloaf
Quesadillas
Hamburgers
Pizza
Blackened Tilapia
Verde Enchilada Casserole
Spaghetti
Chili w/corn bread
Cheeseburger Pie
Oven Baked Chicken
Catalina Chicken
Cream Cheese chicken
Taco Salad
Chicken Devan
Lasagna
Mango Coconut Chicken
Chili Dogs
Hawaiian Haystacks
Chicken Cordon Bleu
Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Zucchini Casserole
Taco Soup
Chicken and rice Casserole
Tropical Grilled Chicken Salad
Pasta Salad
Red Enchiladas
Sour Cream Enchiladas
Spinach/tortellini/strawberry salad
I am sure there are more, but I can't think of them. I mostly eat the things Randy likes because I only really make dinner when he is home. Other then that Jay gets a special order in and I eat toast or cereal or something easy. If you have any other ideas, PLEASE SHARE. Sometimes you just get sick of the same old things. I can also give you recipes of what I have too.

Camping?
The sky started out beautiful....

Then, the storms a came....

Then, the storms a came....

The campsite was actually closed. Last year when we went at this same exact time, was a complete fluke that they were open due to our crazy weather last summer. So we found this little park where we created our own campsite. You can see the W.T. fire pit where we attempted to roast marshmallows before it rained. We did manage to cram a few hot dogs and some chips down. The can in the picture is pure deliciousness of peaches and yellow cake mix with cinnamon. A camping fav.

I love our new place because on every holiday they line our streets with flags. I felt extra patriotic today having a flag in our yard. 911 happened the first year of our marriage so it holds a place extra dear to my heart.
Coincidentally, something patriotic also arrived at our house. This is a painting Randy has been wanting for a long time. And, since he is always doing nice things for me, I thought I would return the favor. (Just the other week he surprised me with a gift card to have a spa pedicure and a massage.) So, finally after much saving...I got to give it to him! It is the painting "Peace is coming" by Jon Mcnaughton. He is AMAZING!!! I got to meet him in person and he even personalized the back for Randy. Seriously he has some of the coolest paintings I have ever seen. Check him out!

Feeling Crafty
I have been checking out a few blogs on repurposing and got this itch to do some sewing. Maybe it is because Project Runway just got picked up by Lifetime so I can watch it now. Who knows. I tried to make an adult size shirt for myself. The fabric I wanted to use (one of Randy's old shirts) wasn't big enough so I used some I had from shopping at my Aunt Kelly's store/craft room. I got the idea for the shirt here:
The funny thing is all the fabric in the world would not have been enough for me to make this shirt. All my measurements were exact. I did it just like the blog. However, it is not as easy as it looks sisters. My shirt ended up being for a 6-7 year old. (Or all of my skinny friends...either one.)I couldn't even attempt to put it on. So I may end up "repurposing" 'it for another project. The main thing is, is now I know how to make a shirt in case every one on earth dies and I am left by myself to make my own clothes. Lets pray that doesn't happen, I may just have to sport a toga if it does.
I like the ruffles
I made this for Jensen. I don't know what they are called, but they are like a mini blanket that she can carry around with her with out being ridiculous. The ribbons and buttons are for texture. I just used some left over fabric I had and a really soft fuzzy pillow case that had a broken zipper. I am by NO means a good sewer, but this was super easy. (Don't look for all the flaws, you will hurt my feelings.)

Blink 182

Randy worked the Blink 182 concert last night. He said it was very loud because he was standing right next to the speaker. He got a video but you can't understand what they are saying it is so loud. In fact, you have to be high or on acid to see what these are pictures of. He did score one of their guitar pics. He got a lot more pictures but none of them turned out. I chastised him for not having the camera in the right mode. It was pretty cool though. No major accidents. Just some girls getting run over by the crowds, but I think that happens at every concert.

The Alpine Loop

Scary sky...

We decided to take a little drive up the canyon today. The weather was really weird. Over cast with a chance of showers. As we were headed up the canyon, the back side of the mountain was starting to change colors.....for fall!!! So, we thought it would be a perfect time to drive the loop. Well, we were all little disappointed because on the loop nothing had changed yet. Still very beautiful though. We will probably go again in a couple of weeks when it is really changing. We make it our little family tradition. It is so nice to get away up in the mountains, yet be so close to home. Jensen was asleep the whole time and missed the whole thing.

Fun at the Sleaters
Hilarious
This is Sol and Jamison playing the Wii. It is some star wars game where they can fight each other. The funny part is that they really have no idea what they are doing, they just move around a whole bunch and wave their arms. Sol is pretty good, but this was Jay's first time and for some reason he thought if you moved your feet a lot it helped.

Good Tips
I have some pretty smart friends and family. I have realized as of recently that I should really pay a little more attention to how cool they really are. Because of this, I have learned so much lately. So, I have compiled a list of helpful tips that I have gotten from others. (Some of these ideas are also from other blogs I read/stalk and magazine articles.):
*Want to know what to do with rotting bananas? Cut them up into slices and put them on a cookie sheet and put into freezer. When frozen, put them all in a bag. That way, when you want to make a smoothie, they are ready to go and not all stuck together. So smart. I have already enjoyed making banana/blueberry smoothies. Plus, who hasn't thrown away a dozen rotten bananas? (You can only make so much banana bread people!)-Thanks Shelly
*Your kids are hungry, but you don't have time to feed them. Snack drawer. At the beginning of each week I put a bunch of different snacks into baggies for the week and put them in the drawer. (Not any more than 5 of each thing, they may go stale.) That way when they are hungry they can grab a snack by them self that you already "OK." I use pretzels, raisins, crackers, apple sauce etc. Plus if I am hungry, I can grab some for the road and they are my little 100 calorie size snacks. win,win,win.-Thanks Lacey
*Don't want your baby to smother themselves in the night? I know most say not to put a blanket in the crib with the baby, but that is just mean. So what I do is tuck one end of the blanket underneath the crib mattress and allow the other to only go far enough over the baby so she can't pull it over her face.-Thanks some magazine
*What is for breakfast? I have to say this is so easy, for me because Randy does most of the work. One day a week Randy will make a big batch of pancakes. The left overs we will put in a bag in the fridge and then in the mornings just pop them in the toaster. Jay loves this. If we let him he would have pancakes every morning, and it is way cheaper than buying the boxes of frozen ones.-Thanks hunny
*Whose towel is this? I don't have this problem because I don't have a large family, but for those that do... If you can never figure out whose towel is whose in the bathroom put a clothes line clip with their name on it. Everyone gets there own clip and you don't have to fight over towels anymore.-Thanks Family Circle Magazine
I will try and up date every so often with more AWESOME tips! If you have any, let me know and I will put them in my next post!!!
