Aqua TRI

This Race was crazy and way different than anything I have done. For starters the order went Run, bike, swim. It wasn't very organized but that also kinda took the pressure off. It was also my first TRI with men and women. My good friend Melyssa did it with me. I am just glad I made it to this race because only a few days before my back was completely going out on me. I was seriously worried. The hardest part my back killed me was on the run. And for starters I am not really even sure of their timing methods because we crossed the timing mat to go to the starting line like 4-5 min before we even started. So I don't think these are that accurate.

Run 5K: 33:44 min. Not a great time, but there were some super steep hills. That there was my problem. My back killed up the hills. So I just tried to walk up and down the hills and run the flatter parts faster then I should have. I have no idea how they tracked our transition area but it seemed like a mile away from where the finish of the run was. Trans One 1:55 min

Bike 12 miles: 39:56 Again with timing doesn't seem right. I actually loved this bike ride. It was my favorite part. It was 2 loops around with a big down hill and uphill at the turn around.  My back only started to stiffen right at the end. Getting off my bike to swim took some time. I told myself I was going to take as long as I needed to put on my swim cap, goggle and ear plugs. And I did. Trans Two 2:22min.

Swim 350 meters: 10:07 I can normally swim this in about 6:15, but I had people in front, behind to the side and top of me. First off you jump off the side into what felt like open water and could not touch the ground. At one point I had 5 guys all around me. They were like sinking stones. One even tried to hold onto my leg. By the 3rd lane most of them clung to the wall and I saw that as my chance to break free. At that point I ran into Melyssa who was having a really bad leg cramp. In the water we were yelling, "This is just like the sinking of the Titanic!" "Bodies Everywhere!" Then I just pushed on through. The other lame thing is that the ropes were not connected to the floor so they drifted and I kept hitting my head on them. I actually ended up doing pretty well on the swim even beating some of the top 20 overall.

So , not the best performance, but I did get 6th in my age group and I am proud of that! Over all:1:28:01

I am now pulling double duty being a Scout Den Leader and mother to a scout. The derby was pure chaos on every level, but fun. I made the awards and the cupcakes and Randy helped me come up with the way we would run the heats. There were many hands helping at different times and it didn't run as smoothly as we would have liked, but we tried our best. We were having mechanical problems with the rockets which only allowed the boys to run one heat. Jamison got second in his heat because of time was unable to race again. He was really disappointed he didn't win the trophy. His was called, "The Silver Bullet" and it was awesome. Randy really helped him with it/did it.

Soccer

Image

Jenny started Soccer this year and it has been a rough go. The first 2 games she cried and cried and wouldn't play. She kept saying that she didn't want people watching her.  It was rough...mostly on Randy and I. By the third game she finally would stand on the field and actually started running after the ball. once she got to kick it she was hooked and even scored a goal. It was amazing to watch the transformation. I am still not sure if she will play next game, but crossing fingers!!!

Jamison is now old enough to convert to a big field. At this game he played goalie. He was awesome at it. I swear he gets better and better at each game and almost always scores a goal.

Picking

ImageImage

On Labor day we went up with the Dunn's to go Raspberry picking. I have gone up several times in the past but this year was rough. I think the Summer was dry because the pickings were kinda slim. We still had a great time and the kids loved it. Afterward I made it all into Jam. This year I made Peach, Raspberry and Strawberry. I think Lindsey and I did the most work because we both had scratches up and down our arms! Afterwards we had a a BBQ. The kids all get along great and McCall and McKinley are the ultimate baby sitters!

2. Yummy veggies from my neighbors garden
3. Snuggle time with Mom, Cort and his baby
4.Jenny at the WAY to expensive Carnival that took me for every penny that I have. (That is supposed to be a flower on her face.)
5.My hunny bought me some flowers out of the blue. Therefore declaring his love for me always. And, because I am on a sugar detox, he bought me hummus and pita chips.
6. Kids playing outside on a warm and fabulous day. We played red light green light with our neighbor Nicholas.
7.Nothing to do on a hot day with no splash pad or pool in sight. Hit 7/11 up for some Slurpees.
8.Getting organized with my new bottle holder.
9.Two Sundays in a row someone dropped goodies off at our door. I love our neighborhood.
10. Got to go on a date night with my hunny to the Temple. Randy's sis Karen watched our kids and afterwards we went to Brick Oven for dinner. NICE.
11. Cort crashed on the couch. He has NEVER done that. He has never fallen asleep anywhere but his bed and the car.
12.After tucking Jensen into bed one night, I later went to check on her. She had changed out of her Jammies and put on a new set of clothes. Looks like she was getting a jump start on the next day.
