The algorithm gave me a rush of views at first—like gambling. It hooked me on churning out content they could monetize with ads, then abruptly pulled the rug out from under me. Reach tanked overnight, and now I'm left wondering why I bother.
Spent most of Tuesday supervising the build of a plastic shredder and grinding through various permits. Hands-on progress, but the bureaucracy never ends.
I fired the new hire welder last Friday. That was expensive—paid her salary for a few weeks and got nothing in return. All the work had to be redone. That cash could have gone to myself, or we could have finished orders and gotten paid more.
She was live-streaming at work. I also saw on her Facebook that she'd announced she was pregnant—without saying a word to me. Aside from the shitty work, I can't afford the liability of having a pregnant woman around welding fumes, grinding dust, and the rest.
No real budget for a big Christmas thing this year, especially after paying the mandatory 13th-month "bonus." (The politicians generously gave everyone an additional month of pay... without requiring any extra work from the employers.)
That said, the traffic yesterday was absolutely insane—the amount of reckless driving was off the charts. Holiday chaos in full swing. I'm not interested in leaving the subdivision.
Last night, I finally snapped and got into a full-on fight with my floor fan. The fan lost. This cheap Chinese import kept tipping over, struggled to start, and made endless racket. It fell in the middle of the night, the flimsy plastic blades shattered, and I'd had enough of its nonsense. So I finished the job, broke it completely, and dumped it in the trash.
I miss the little silent fan I had before. It hung from the ceiling on an adjustable arm above the bed, with a convenient switch right on the bedpost. I could swing it closer for more air or pull it back—no noise, no drama. It was only a couple dollars. However I will have to.fabricate a new arm to mount a new one.
Living here has turned me into a complete fan addict. In this heat, they're essential for survival.
