Oops Forget to Post Yesterday

Darn I'm bit confused today...did I weight yesterday? Today's scale shows 162.6 which is 1lb down from Thursday weight in at 163.6??? Did I lose 1 lb in 2 days, today is Saturday morning ? I'm not complaining, but I could have sworn I got on the scale yesterday and mentally noted another 1lb lose. Ok. I'll have to have a pen and paper by my scale, just to make sure I am recording things correctly from now on.

I have started my period today so that also could be a factor.

To recap. It is now One full week, 7 days on the restricted diet. Started at 169.4 and am now 162.6. A total loss of 6.8 lbs. WOW THAT's AMAZING !!!!

weigh in today - 166.6  I am consistently so far losing a lb a day :)

PROBABLY THE LAST DIET I'LL EVER TRY

Ok, so not too long ago I had come to terms with the fact that I am a 45 year old latin (big thighs and boobs) lady, slightly heavy at about 167lbs which puts me in a tight size 10 bottoms and medium to large tops. I'm 5'5" inches tall, so, all in all, I figured that wasn't too bad. Of course, I wished I were thinner, but after trying many weight loss programs and having pretty depressing results, I decided, THAT'S IT! NO MORE ! I'm not obese , I can look cute in clothes when I dress up, and MOST of all.... I"M HAPPY, HAVE A WONDERFUL HUSBAND, FAMILY AND LIFE AND MANY MANY MANY BLESSINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR! None ofwhich are diluted in any way but not being a size 6 :)

I had determined that I would be content at this size, try my best to not over do the sugar and carbs and let the chips or hips fall where they may :)

BUT...wouldn't you know it, a new diet comes rolling into town and makes me questions everything I've worked hard to come to terms with. What diet you ask? The HCG diet. I know what your thinking... that's the cooky diet where you inject yourself with some crazy pregnancy hormone and eat only 500 cals a day ! That's just CRAZY ! Yup, you got it and YES initially, I thought it sounded crazy too. But here I am reading and learning everything I can about this thing AND have decided to give it a whirl. I know, I can hardly believe I just typed that myself ! I'm not gonna waste my time trying to defend my decision or explain the theory of this diet to you. You'll have to do that yourself, but my purpose here is to chronicle my journey and see how I do. You can find information at hcginfoonline.com, the Pounds and Inches Book written by the creator of the diet and Kevin Troudeaus book. YOu no longer have to inject as a new under the tongue drops have been developed, so, that also made my decision  alittle easier. I've also gone to my local Sprouts health food store, attended a meeting there and got some helpful information as well. I would suspect that other health food places such as Whole Foods and Henry's might be a good resource too. Also, as always I have founds some fun You Tube recipe videos that have been very helpful. I love You Tube :)

So that's it, today is my first entry as well as my first day of the program, not including the 2 days that you have to load up on all the crappy food you can find and shove down your throat.

Here are my totals :

Day 1 : 167 lbs - Load Day -eat everything it sight, sounds fun, but not really.

Day 2 : 168 lbs - Load Day - I'm feeling like a beached whale at this point and have major heart burn and I didn't really eat that much. However I am ready to dive in to the diet, eating light and healthy sounds good to me right now :)  I've done some prep work, stocked my frig with fresh veggies and other essentials and cooked some things ahead. My goal is not to have to cook betweenMon and Thurs which are the days I work  at very busy doctors office and am exhausted when I get home. I hope this strategy will set up for success as best as possible.

Day 3 : 169.4 - First Day of restricted diet - The morning was good up until 3pm and now I am pretty weak. I am looking forward to my evening meal and my strawberry,h20 and stevia smoothie.

I plan on posting everyday if I can :) I hope to see you on the other side of skinny :)

Chloe's Baby Blessing and July 4 2010

We had a wonderful time during our recent trip up to Provo and Salt Lake City during the recent the July 4th holiday. We attended our grand daughter Chloe's Baby Blessing at church and had a very nice picnic in the park immediately following. It was great to get together with the kids and visit with Ryan's family.
The day before, we had some fun watching fire works just outside the Stadium of Fire at BYU ,sorry no pictures, forgot camera!  Father and son actually got to light some of their own fireworks, they are legal in Utah :) On out last day in Utah we headed off with Lisset Ryan and kids for another gorgeous day at the park.

Unfortunately the stamping group that I attend now, will be ending soon. The Stampin Up lady who hosts our group will be moving soon...BOO WHOO !!! So I had to take matters into my own hands ! I am starting my own group ! We'll meet once a month to stamp, card make and in general, just have fun ! First meeting is this thursday evening the 28th. Here's the 2 cards we will make. I'll be posting future projects and work on taking better pictures of them. Who knows I might even post video tutorials!
One step at a time though...

number 2 !!!

Well, I did infact have enough fabric to make a second quilt from the woody fabric !!!
I added the tribal blue and it blends nicely. This is that magic nine patch pattern... LOVE IT !!! except it's a planned layout, instead of scrappy. I had alot of fun plotting out the design. Now off to Joanne's to get some batting, thank goodness for a 50% off coupon and I have to get my dream sewing machine from the shop. All this piecing I did on my spare machine which I love too !!! I'm gonna be busy :)

These will make great Easter gifts for Jaime and Jonathan, except I thought Easter was 2 weeks away...yikes !!! Oh well, better late than never :)
And don't worry Lisset, yours is first on the list for machine quilting :)

QUILTS OF VALOR

I found about this organization and it' soooo cool !!! Volunteers get together and sew really beautiful patriotic quilts for wounded veterans from Irag and Afghanistan. So I volunteered today, it was awesome. We are going to get a group together from Relief Society and help out. It felt so good do something for those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Food Commentary # 2

This is way too much food ! By the end of week one, I found myself not being able to consume all the food you are suppose to eat on a daily basis. I'm baffled, but in a good way. How do they do that? The portions look so small, yet you feel full. I did notice that all the foods, including the desserts have a massive amount of protein...8gram, 10gram, 13 grams, 16 grams. Maybe that's it, maybe each meal sustains you longer ? I initially thought the trick of it was that since you have to eat a side salad with lunch and dinner, that's how you would feel full, but I can't even get to the salad, much less the 2 veggie servings I'm also supposed to add to dinner. But I try to get in at least one salad and one veggie serving per day so I get in the greens. Anyhow, I am in the middle of week 2 and very happy. I will however adjust my next meal order to reflect some of my favorites....lasagna, ravioli, chocolate raspberry bar, Yumm. I haven't had anything that tasted nasty yet, but there are definitely some entrees that are delicious, so I will order more of those and I'm not a real fan of cereal, the bars better suit me for breakfast.
TaTa, until my next weight in day.

WEEK 1 : DOWN 5.6 LBS OMGOSH !!!

I'm ecstatic !!! I was only expecting 1 or 2 lbs at the most. I'm wearing the same clothes from the first picture - yes, I cleaned them...I'm not sure you can see difference but the shirt definitely felt looser.
OK. Now goals for next week 1. get a walk in everyday 2. take measurements

I Love Quilting

One I am working on now called "Tossed Nine Patch". I love this one. I'm using up alot of my scraps and it looks complicated but actually it's really simple.

Image

An unfinished Christmas Wall Hanging called "A Night In Bethlehem" Luckily I have 11 more months to finish it.

Image

My pride and joy " Trip Around the World". I considered myself an advanced quilter after finishing this one but actually it also was much simpler to put together than I thought.

Close up...

Image

Most of the quilts I've made are in my daughter's possession. I've made quilts for her, my grandbaby and her dog. And then there are others I've given as gifts to other people. I should do better in documenting them.

Food Commentary

After almost 2 full days of eating the nutrisystem food, I must say I am pleasantly surprised ! Actually more like elated. So far the stuff tastes great. I've had chicken alfredo, scrambled eggs with turkey sausage, chocolate raspberry bar and others. All of which I would eat again. You eat 5 meals a day spaced about 3 hours apart including desert, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The portions are small but filling. So far, so good.

And The Weight Loss Begins

Image
Well, despite my best efforts, my weight has ballooned to 164 lbs ! Ouch ! And this what it looks like on me.
Image
Sooo..my plan of attack is such..NUTRISYSTEM. I rec'd the box of goodies yesterday and decided to start today. As an added incentive, I'll be blogging my progress in the hopes of keeping me motivated. So yep, I'm putting it all out there for all to see; pictures of my chubby self hopefully shrinking, exercise strategies and food commentaries.
My goals are first and foremost...
a)TO BE HEALTHY then b) TO BE MORE ACTIVE and c) to reach 145 lbs. Wish me luck !

Happy 25th Anniversary

Image
Image

Ok. So I know it's not exactly what you think of getting as an anniversary present, especially a milestone one like 25 years, which jaime and I celebrated back in July. But I like to think outside of the box sometimes. Now, don't get me wrong, I had all the ususal ideas in mind ; trip to Hawaii, cruise to the Western Caribean, vacation in Cancun...unfortunately timing wasn't our friend and traveling for more than just a weekend in the last 6 months just wasn't in the cards for us. Nope, not with 2 sons coming and going from missions and then the holidays right on the heals of that. So we settled for a mini celebration in Corondo, knowing that the big present would be forth coming !!! I LIKE MY BIG SCREEN -especially in HD ! Ahhh ! And you gotta love watching the Chargers dominate the Colts as your first big screen experience.
Who knows? Maybe travelocity.com will drop me an email someday with some travel deals for the future :) Last I heard, Hawaii and Cancun aren't going anywhere !

MISSING MY MISSIONARY

Image
Meet Elder Jon Bear . A hug from this little guy snaps me right out of missionary mom blues. His older brother, Elder Jaime Bear wore the same outfit for 2 years. The same hug remedy applied to him as well.
