Green Smoothie

For over a year now I have insisted that my kids drink a spinach smoothie before they can have anything else to eat. It was a little bit of a struggle to implement this, but now there is no problems. They like it, and they know that it is for their brains!

This week we let ROSIE have some! She is in LOVE!

St. George

We made a quick escape to St. George this past weekend. Since we seem to have a four day weekend from school every month, we are taking full advantage. We went with Spencer and Neeley and their kiddo's. It was a lot of fun.

SOME OF THE THINGS WE DID:

We love to go the the St. George temple. We run around and play on the grass, and we go inside the visitor's center and try and learn something...

What a cute group:)

Such a handsome guy and a DARLING little girl!

We LOVE to hike with our little one's. This is one of our favorite hikes in St. George. It is just above the city. We went to this narrow part of the rock where you need to shimmy to get through. The thought of that made my knees weak. The kids loved it and went through a couple of times!

Rosie was fun too! She was the life of the party one night.

Valentines Day

We have two fun traditions in our family for Valentines Day.
#1
Colin has the boys dress up in their suits and ties, and we deliver chocolates to all the widows in our ward. The boys also pick a few women they want to take some to too. This year it was a babysitter, and primary teachers. They are the cutest things.
(Jack also bought a rose for Lucy and Naomi, what a ladies man, AND a chip off the old block!)

#2
We have "dinner in the dark". Most people would call it a candlelight dinner, but my kids call it that. I set the table, put their valentines on their plates, light the candles, and turn out the lights! We also have sparkling cider and do "Cheers." It is a great night, and lots of fun to hear what they cheers to.:)

Phoenix Arizona

We just got back from our 2nd annual family trip to Arizona. It is such a wonderful trip because we are so ready to get out of the snow and have some FUN IN THE SUN! (Family trip motto) Boy did we ever! Thanks Phoenix for great shopping, swimming, and entertainment. We love you!

Day #1
We jetted out early Wednesday morning. When we arrived we got our mini van and drove straight to Old Town Scottsdale for some Grimaldi's Pizza. We found this place while we lived in NYC. They have one in Arizona AND we never miss it. After that we went to the Scottsdale Train Park. Its a fun little park with some different trains you can ride. After which we checked in to our hotel and went swimming, of coarse. The hotel actually heated their pool so it made swimming quite enjoyable:) That night we ate at a restaurant called Rustler's Roost. So fun. They had a slide for the kids, live music, and a lady doing balloon animals. It was so kid friendly, and the kicker was the steak was AMAZING! Go figure, you can actually have both. Something Utah hasn't quite figured out...even though the children out number the adults.

Day#2
OK, so Colin is a shopper. So, what shopper goes to Phoenix and doesn't hit Last chance? I know!!?? Well, I got him there, but he was less then impressed. We got there a little before 10 and the line was huge. (Strike #1 in Colin's eyes) Then right before they opened a lady came out ask said they will kick you out if you are aggressive or take anything from other peoples carts. (strike #2). Then you go running in with all the other crazies, and fight for yourself! (Strike #3) Colin scored some great shoes, but all in all he HATES the place. I really don't understand because he likes a good deal and he likes to purchase quickly;)
Then we went to the Children's Museum. TOTALLY awesome. After that we grabbed lunch went to the pool and swam! Then we went and did some more shopping that night, Colin style,Nordstrom.
Day #3
We went on a hike at a state park right by our hotel, then we went to the movie Big Miracle. LOVE that show. My kids loved it too. Must see. After which we did the usual we shopped, swam and ate.
Day #4
We packed up and went to the ZOO! It is such a great zoo, and the kids all still enjoy a good animal siting:)

The funny part of our trip is our sweet little Ruby. She is a spit fire and that is putting it lightly. She is so full of life and fun to be around, but a bit exhausting! Colin and I have been at odds with her since Rose has entered the picture. She has begun getting up at 3:00 AM and running into my room, grabbing my phone as fast as she can and running out, so she can play with it. YES, that is the honest truth. We have started only letting her nap for just a little bit during the day, she still needs a little one to get through the day. Colin was sure that she didn't need a nap at all anymore. WELL, this trip wore her out completely! YIPEE. We didn't think that she could, wear out. EVERYDAY we found her curled up in her stroller, out. There is nothing that would wake her. Then she would sleep through the night and into the late morning. We have found that a lively 2 year old can sleep through the night if you take her on a vacation;)

We are so blessed to have each other. We love to spend time together, and Colin and I love to see our kids play with their siblings forming bonds to last forever. That is why we try to go as much as we possibly can. I heard it said once, "take the kids out of the world for a minute so the world can get out of them." We leave our daily routine and the grind of work and homework to have some fun together. We come home a better mom, dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, and friend!
