Sunday Stitch School

Lesson 209- Padded Cross stitch and 210- Closed Fly stitch

https://queeniepatch.blogspot.com/p/sunday-stitch-school.html

Image

These stitches were so quick an easy to make. I used a multicolour perle thread for the first row, on Aida.

The leaves were made with an Edmar knotty thread, and 3 strands DMC for the other leaves. It seems we can make our own leaf shapes with this stitch. The remaining photo has 2 knotty ones- a little fat, fine thread -and a variegated Cottage Garden thread on velvet.

Sunday Stitch School-

No. 208, Star Filling Stitch. This easy stitch can be found at Queenie’s Blog https://queeniepatch.blogspot.com/p/sunday-stitch-school.html

Before I post the photo of this I found my last stitch No. 207, Plaited Edge Stitch was out of alignment and I have restitched it. This will be followed by the Star Filling stitch. It looks much neater now.

Sunday Stitch School No. 206 – Rapid Stitch

Image

The name says it all. It is a very quick and exceedingly easy to create. I like both versions seen here

I have used perle thread on Aida and will play with the stitch on cloth as I like how Queenie has made different patterns. Thanks Queenie!

No. 204 Mountmellick stitch.
https://queeniepatch.blogspot.com/2022/03/sunday-stitch-school-lesson-204.html stitch. I begin with an apology for the horrid example of a very nice stitch. It took the best part of 90 minutes to get this far. I have nothing more to add to the disaster.

Image

No. 205 Glove stitch. I found it a breeze to do. Neat and quick as well.
As an extra, Queenie added a Bosnian stitch, which looks the same from the front but Bosnian is different on the reverse side. It is as quick to do as the Glove stitch.

No. 198 Whipped Wheat-ear stitch

Image

This is a very easy stitch to do..for other than myself.

I came to realize over the last few years I do not mirror image stitches well anymore- but my patience has increased greatly, so I keep trying and find I get through.

You are allowed to laugh along with me…….My patience still held when I discovered I ran out of thread half way..see the knotty stitch? I finished that half row with dark green. Row too short,so I added more light green-left to right. Then whipped dark green, starting from the opposite end to middle, as it mirror imaged better for me.

Bit messy but will do until I can produce a decent, tidy example.

The well done example of the Whipped Wheatear stitch can be found on Queenie’s list here

Sunday Stitch School

No. 197 German Buttonhole stitch, on Aida cloth, using a cotton thread.

Image

The same stitch on fabric. I used a Rajmahal thread but the photo is poor.

Image

The stitch is very easy to do and the legs sit nicely with the wrapped thread.
If you are interested in learning, the stitch can be found on Queenie’s blog here

Sunday Stitch School. No.196 Square Knot Drizzle stitch

Today’s stitch is similar to, but not the same as, No.193 -Double Drizzle stitch. This earlier one is looped onto a needle. Today’s stitch is tied over a needle and shows a two sided appearance.

I have pushed the stitches to show both sides. One has a red edging with a white middle and on the opposite side the colours are reversed. They would make a nice upright flower if grouped close together.

The lesson can be found here

My stitches from the top No.190 Ring Knot, No. 191 Plaid Filling, No. 192 Astypalea stitch and No 193 Double Drizzle stitch. Four new to me, interesting stitches which were easy to do. The threads are perle 12.
Image

The stitches are the same but worked on a fabric crazy block. The Double Drizzle stitch on cloth was worked with Brazilian Lola threads. The Thorn stitch(No 41) to the left of it, was worked with hand dyed fine perle thread. The Astypalea at the base has been made with 4ml silk ribbon and purple thick perle thread. The row above the couched brown line (to cover the join) had the same purple ‘V’s and a pale green cotton thread. It was quicker to work the Plaid Filling on Aida than guessing with the cloth.

The stitches can be found on Queenie’s SSS listhttps://queeniepatch.blogspot.com/p/sunday-stitch-school.html

Sunday Stitch School

No. 189 Tied Chain stitch \

Image
Image

I think I need to clean my glasses as I totally missed this posted stitch last week and we are due for another new stitch shortly.

I used perle 12 threads on Aida in the first photo and the same in the yellow and white sample on a CQ block. The pale pink was a dyed crochet thread and the deeper pink, 6 strands of Cottage Garden Thread.

All were quick and easy to do, though I had to snag the tips with the thread so the chain would not slip down the next chain when turning..

Sunday Stitch School

Play time with Quaker and Kerman stitches today. Both stitches are easy so I’ve made a fern like spray with Quaker stitch for stems….. The Kerman stitch is normally side by side but I used the stitch on alternate sides and popped it into a vase.

Both stitches can be found on Queenie’s blog here

Image

No.188 Quaker st                   Too many projects this week and I forgot to add the main Quaker stitch from school.  It is simple to do.   It is neat, curves well or can be just a straight line.
