Life is always busy, but March is an extra busy month at our house. Things just seem a little more low key in the winter. And while the boys go crazy (thus drive me crazy) being inside all the time, I enjoy that we aren't going in so many different directions in the winter.
March is the month when all that changes. With three birthdays in our little family (plus seven more in our extended families), two holidays, and the return of good weather there is always a lot going on.
The month started out with Luke's birthday.
The next week was Ben's birthday. His birthday was on Sunday, so the day before we did a party with friends. We gave Ben different options of parties and the location of the party determined how many friends he could invite. A party at home meant more friends, but Ben chose to go to Boondock's with two of his best friends. I took him and his friends and told him that we could stay as long as they wanted. Six and a half hours later, they had had enough. (Well, really I had loaded money onto their arcade cards, which of course they blew threw pretty quick. I told them I would load more money onto their cards right before we left, so they did a bunch of other things before they couldn't wait any longer for money on their cards.)
On his birthday we had a party with family.
For his birthday he got clothes, money, a remote control helicopter, a bow and arrow and a pogo stick. The pogo stick is awesome because it doesn't matter what kid is using it, all the kids jump up and down.

Ben was so excited to use his bow and arrow, but we needed to get something he could shoot his arrows at. We finally got something, but he still hasn't been able to try out his bow and arrow. Two days after his birthday I got a phone call from school that Ben had fallen off the monkey bars and was complaining that his arm hurt. I decided not to take him to the doctor right away. I brought him home and watched how he acted. Later that night, right before bedtime I decided to take him to the doctor. The doctor didn't Ben's arm was broken but an x-ray confirmed that he indeed had a broken arm. A buckle fracture which broke his radius and ulna, it is extremely common in kids. They put on a soft splint and a week later he got a glow- in-the-dark cast with a water proof liner. Last year one of Ben's friends and then one of his cousins had broken arms. Ben thought it would be cool to have a cast, but he quickly found out that a broken arm is painful and a cast is kind of annoying.

We had some Groupons to go sledding at Soldier Hollow. We drove all the way up there and then went down the hill once before we went an got our money back. The weather had gotten too warm and it was raining, which didn't work well for sledding. On the way back home though we got to try an good restaurant in Midway called Tarahumara. I don't know if the food is anything amazing, but their salsa bar is awesome.
Chad's birthday was a week and a half after Ben's. We were kind of tired of birthday cake, so for Chad's birthday we just took the boys out for ice cream. The next day Chad and I went on a date night with our friends the Kogers. We went for a train ride on the Heber Valley Railroad. There was a magician that did a few tricks, but the best part of the evening was spending time with friends without all our crazy kids around. That happens almost never.
Then that weekend we went up to Logan for a getaway with Chad's brother, sister-in-law and their kids.
And finally the last weekend of the month meant Easter celebrations. Thursday Jack's preschool teacher did a fun little party for the kids and when I picked Jack up he looked like this-
Friday we went to an Easter egg hunt at the park behind our church.
Saturday morning we dyed Easter egg's.
Then we went up to Chad's parents house where his mom put on her over-the-top, my-kids-got-way-too-much-junk Easter egg hunt. It was fun and I love how Chad's mom actually hides a lot of the eggs, not just dumps them all out on the lawn. We finished out the evening by going to dinner at Taggart's with Chad's parents.
Today, Easter Sunday, has been pretty low key. The boys did their dyed Easter eggs hunt this morning and Chad and I used the eggs to make our traditional Eggs Goldenrod. The boys have been eating candy all day long and I have eaten more than enough as well. Chad and the bigger boys went to church while Luke and I stayed home (we both have colds). Tonight for dinner there is no ham on our menu, frozen pizzas are in order.
