What can I say about this trip...I LOVED IT!!!
Clint signed my sister and I up for this as an anniversary present to me. I was shocked!! He had asked Haley what I would want and she threw this idea out to him. Pretty smart on her part because she new she would have to go too!! He ended up signing us up as a team...Tweedle dee and dum is what he called us. LOL! The race was to take place the last weekend in January. Which was perfect! something to look forward to after the holidays and also something to keep you motivated to keep working out through the holidays! I then talked Ris and Sun into signing up as well.
We stayed a night at Haley's father in laws house in St George one night then continued on to Jenn's in California. Jenn and Kevin could not have been any more fabulous. The best hostesses ever!! We got there and went on the best pre run in such a beautiful area. The weather could not have been better! We ate (LOTS), shopped, went to the beach, ate, shopped etc. We really had such an amazing time. I know for all of us it was a greatly needed trip.
Then we left Jenn's to pick up packets and get ready to race. The race itself started at 545 in the morning which meant alarms started going off at 345! We somehow got put into coral D which would not have been bad but there was 15,000 runners!!! Only 9386 runners actually finished the race. Either too slow or injury etc. In a nutshell you were constantly weaving in and out of the crowds for the first half . The first 5 miles were in Disneyland then through the streets of Anaheim. They had bands and entertainment all along the way. Then the last few miles were through California adventure. We took our time and had a blast. We were not going for a fast time. We stopped and took pictures along the way with the characters and at certain "hot spots" we always take pictures at when we go to Disneyland! For stopping as much as we did I think we did awesome! Also considering we started almost at the very end of the pack to gain that much is awesome!! I also have to add in that Ris was 13 weeks prego and rocked it. I love these girls more then anything!! We love to run but we all know that it is so much more then that!!
My results were
Time-2:07
Overall place-879/9386
Division place 173/1717
I have to say that I have never felt so good in a run. We got done and I honestly could have kept running. So much easier running at sea level then here. HUGE difference!
Now for the craziest part of the race. So unexpected! My sister and I ended up taking 3rd place in the sister/sister division! Makes me want to go back and kick some but cause I know we could have killed it! We took 3 out of 114 teams signed up!
I will FOR SURE do this again and would recommend it to anyone!
