A blog??

I literally forgot I had a blog and was going through my g-mail account and noticed it! Figured I'd update the 3 people who check this thing that gets updated once a year! :)

I am 33 weeks pregnant right now with baby #2, another girl! We DO have a name picked out BUT I am always so paranoid of spilling the beans before and someone taking the name sooo in 7 weeks time the beans will be spilt and all will know our little peanuts name!  This pregnancy hasn't been HORRIBLE, it's just a lot more difficult doing the pregnancy thing with a busy little toddler! When we ask Quinn where baby sister is she usually comes and gives my tummy a hug and kiss but occasionally Dustin's tummy gets the hug and kiss too! Not sure how much she really grasps the idea of it but I hope the transition will go well! She has become my little buddy and I am so nervous for a new addition! I don't want Quinn to feel less important or less loved! I am sure all mom's go through this & I know everything will be fine!

Last week we went to Disney World and it was so much fun! Quinn is obsessed with all the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters so whenever she got to meet them she would yell "Yay!" and start clapping and run and give them hugs. It was adorable. I wish she was old enough to remember going but it was still a lot of fun!

Dustin is about to finish his second year of medical school which I cannot believe we have already almost been in Kansas City for 2 years! We will be moving to Toledo, Ohio at the end of June for Dustin to do his 3rd and 4th year rotations. Minus moving with a new baby, I am really excited for the move and think it will be fun! I'm ready for a change of scenery!

I think that's it for updates in our family! Until next year :)

Come and Go

Well...I always have good intentions of keeping up this blog but life seems to get in the way! We are pretty much stuck in the house today due to tornado warnings throughout the area (My worst nightmare), so I figured I'd update and post on all the things I have been meaning to! Dustin just as a couple weeks left and then we are headed home for the summer. We are so excited to go boating & hang out with our families! My parents are coming out to visit this upcoming weekend, as long as our house isn't destroyed tonight in a tornado! Quinn turned one a couple weeks ago and is getting smarter and smarter by the day. When we go to restaurants she loves to separate the sugar packets into piles based on their color, she is repeating more words slowly, and she loves trying to figure out how things work. I love watching how she stares at me while I'm doing something and then watching her a few minutes later trying to do what I just did, and usually succeeding! We had a fun birthday with friends and she loved her cake. I didn't get a lot of pics, mostly video but am working on editing pics from a mock cake smash photo sesh! But that's pretty much it!

Lately, I have been doing some custom projects for family and friends and I figured I'd post this poster I made for all my Idaho friends if any of you are interested in being in a golf tournament to help donate money to a family in need! It's in Idaho Falls but it looks like it will be a lot of fun!

Obsession: PicTapGo

ptg_logo

Okay, Here is my next current obsession. I am normally ANTI paying for apps, but this one is a gem.  It is basically Lightroomfor your I-phone in my opinion. It has a ton of presets you can use to edit your photos, and you can also alter them and make your own "recipes" for presets. I love it. One of my goals is to develop my Instagram pictures, so I feel making the pictures look the best possible will only make it better. I think its $1.99, but worth it!

Therapy Session+ Pinterest

Okay, so before I get into the Pinterest part of this post I feel everyone needs a background story.

Side Note: It really annoys me when people blab on Facebook about every detail of their days and every feeling they feel throughout the day, SO with that being said.....if you don't care to read about my emotional issues living in Missouri, you can go ahead and skip this post!

Now that we got that out of the way, I just first have to say I really am not liking Missouri lately. I always thought it would be so fun to move somewhere new and when we first moved here I DID feel that way. Well fast forward to now, and I really do not like it here. I pretty much had a two hour cry pity session last night feeling bad for myself.
1. I really miss my family. I am use to being able to just go to any of my siblings houses whenever I am bored and want something to do. Also, whenever I needed to run an errand I could usually talk someone into going with me.
2. I miss having my friends. I am really bad at keeping in touch with friends. I have always had this horrible mentality that if people wanted to keep in touch with me, then they will call me. Not that I feel like my time is sacred by any means, but the opposite! I don't want to bother people so I figure they can come to me if they want something.
3. I am alone ALL day with a child who can't talk. I love being a stay at home mom, but it gets super lonely.

So between feeling alone and homesick, I have talked myself into hating it here. I have met some friends out here who are really cool and I enjoy being around but (CUE PROBLEM #2) I always am waiting for them to call me to do something rather than just taking the initiative and doing it myself. I don't like making people feel obligated to do anything so I just wait around for them to call me. So I sit here during the days always wishing I could just go to someones place and hang out but never DO it. So, last night after my drama queen moment Dustin and I decided that I just need to take the initiative and quit being a baby pretty much. So that's one of my goals for trying to be happier with where we are.

Second goal is to stay busy and be productive! So, that is why I have been blogging a little more as of late! I think it is a good outlet for me and is just one more thing to keep my mind busy.

Third goal, I want to actually DO the things I pin on pinterest instead of just scrolling through every night in bed on my phone pinning everything in sight and then repeating the next night and never going back through them. So this leads me to the second part of my post....PINTEREST!

I am going to blog about different things I make or try on Pinterest. It will make me more accountable to actually do it AND you can see what is good/gross/fun/lame etc. I'm going to try and do at least one post a week on it but we will see how it goes.

So here is my first one...HONEY LIME ENCHILADAS!
Image
I'm obsessed with these. Literally. Dustin actually said one night after dinner," These enchiladas are good, but maybe you should try some new recipes." I make them all the time! They have a lot of cheese and I am a cheese lover. They are sweet but spicy too. So these I would recommend! I always have the ingredients for these on hand now. So if you want to try them go to favfamilyrecipes.com and type Honey Lime Enchiladas in their search engine and voila!

Teeth!!!!

Latest update in the Tew household....Quinn popped 2 bottom teeth the other day! FINALLY! I swear I have thought she was teething for the last 7 months so its about time. I was literally beginning to worry that there were no teeth in there and she would be all gums for the rest of her life! When they are actually grown in enough to get a pic I will share!

Obsession 1: Coconut Oil

I feel like I'm turning into some natural, granola, tree-loving hippie by talking about this stuff and those diapers I posted about, and secretly some days I would love to be that person. Regardless, here it goes. Lately Quinn has caught a case of RSV, had a double ear infection, and teething ALL at the same time. Adding to her misery, due to teething and antibiotics= diarrhea=major diaper rash. I have used Burt's Bees diaper ointment (made her scream when I put it on, something in it really irritated her skin), A&D (soothed her but didn't really improve the rash too much), Bordeaux Butt Paste (normally works, not helping with this constant poop problem) and Balmex (seems to work the most of all the creams). Anyways, I bought this Coconut oil at Trader Joe's because it was the best price I had seen around and I have seen Coconut oil all over Pinterest. Honestly, it sat in my cupboard for about 2 months before I ever used it. I looked online and read all the stuff you can do with it. Side note: everyone says to use it on your hair and your hair will feel amazing, I honestly couldn't tell a difference but maybe that's just me. Anyways, I read that it can help with diaper rashes so I attempted to give it a try. Being in the medical field I didn't really think it would help as I am a BIG advocate for medications to fix things and not so big on the whole oil's and other natural things to heal your sicknesses. Anyways, her diaper rash looked so much better in just one diaper change, and it didn't hurt her at all when putting it on. So my friends, if you are looking for a good remedy for diaper rash I would recommend this! By the way, I just Google searched this picture and used it so here is my disclaimer that I didn't take this picture in case I get in trouble for using it :)
