Life!

I figure it is about time for an update!! So be prepared for a very long post!! Let's start with updates on Dustin and I before we get to the best part of the post, our new little girl Quinn. So Dustin has decided to go to Kansas City Missouri for Medical school so we will be leaving July 29th! It is a short 7 weeks away and I am so sad to be leaving family especially after having this little girl! However, I am also very excited to go on a new adventure with Dustin and I know it will make our relationship even stronger! For now, Dustin is working nights on the total joint unit at the hospital as a charge nurse and is enjoying it. I am definitely excited to not be alone at night anymore when we move!!!

As for me, I graduated May 4th from the Nursing program. So I am KINDOF officially an RN. I am currently in the process of applying for my license in Missouri and have to still take the boards. The current plan is to work a couple days or nights a week once we move there, as long as Dustin can be home and watch our girl because I refuse to leave her with a babysitter! I would much rather be home with her and have no money!

And now for the new addition in our lives, Quinn Kourtney Tew!! We just love this little one. It is amazing how much love you realize you are capable of once you have a child. So before I get too mushy I will give a quick summary of her birth! Her original due date was May 3rd. I went into the doctors office May 1st frustrated I hadn't had her yet! My doctor agreed to induce me the next day, May 2nd. I was so excited! I mean, anticipating someones arrival for 9 months can lead one to be VERY impatient!! Dustin worked that night so I decided to go stay at my parents...to keep this G-rated I won't go into too much detail but I had some signs that baby would be coming soon that night and then the next morning began having some mild contractions that were 10-15 minutes apart. By 2:00 that afternoon they were becoming pretty painful. I was scheduled to be induced at 5:00 so we decided to just head up there. Well everyone and their dog decided to have a baby that day so I got checked in triage and was only dilated to a 1. The nurse said they didn't have any open rooms and since I wasn't progressing too quickly to come back in a couple of hours. I was bummed but I went home and took a 2 hour nap. I woke up to a phone call from the hospital saying they had a room open for me, so UP we went! I was now dilated to a 3, so the nurse decided to call anesthesia so that by the time they got there I would be a 4 and could get the goods. By the way, I may be very narrow minded but why would anyone want to do natural birth!? The epidural was probably the greatest thing ever and I think the absence of pain let me enjoy the experience even more, BUT what do I know. Anyways, at about 10:30 the nurse thought the baby would be coming any minute because I had started progressing fast, so I call my sister who is a photographer because I wanted these moments captured! She arrives and my contractions start slowing down. SOOOO My nurse ends up starting some Pitocin (since I had orders for it anyways since I was originally going to be induced). This sped up the contractions and the doc was on his way! I pushed for about 15-20 minutes and our precious little one entered the world right on her due date! 6 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long! She was perfect!!! It was so weird to watch them weighing a baby across the room and thinking that it was MY child! I literally went into shock and it didnt set in for a couple of days that she was ours and we get to keep her forever!! I was pretty emotional once she was born (no surprise). She immediately had Dustin wrapped around her little finger. She had lots of visitors over the next 24 hours and then we were able to go home!

The next couple of weeks were a complete blur! I really can hardly remember anything specific other than the feelings felt in our home! Dustin was completely in love and wanted to hold her all of the time. He would just sit there and stare at her and give her kisses. It is such a great feeling to watch this. Dustin has always been a softy, but Quinn melted his heart even more! I am completely in love and love spending every day with her. I'm not going to lie....some days are REALLY hard and emotional! Your life completely changes and nothing can prepare you for it, but I wouldnt change it for the world. As I am writing this she is sleeping right next to me and I am just overcome with love!! Well I think that pretty much sums up everything I HAVEN'T blogged about. Maybe once we move I will get better at this. Anyways, here are some pictures captured from Quinns birth!
