Rag blanket!

Wow! Call me a huge slacker!! Totally ridiculous that it takes me almost 6 months to get something else up on here! It is dumb to because I have made things and just haven't remembered to post them. I will work hard to be better and post more things that are on my TO DO list :)
I made this blanket in November!!!! I used the tutorial from HERE and then changed it a little because I couldn't decide on the colors so I had to use them all! I ended up doing the car patterned squares 12 inches which ended up being 10 inches after sewing it with an inch margin all around and then I did the smaller squares 7 inches which ended up being 5 inches after the 1 inch all around margin. The total size of the blanket came to 40 in x 50 in. Perfect size for a toddler! Carsen loves to snuggle in it and It is a great size for his crib because he still has room to move under the blanket and it not be too small and not cover him.
With the 4 part squares, I sewed 2 of them together first and then the other 2 together and then the 2 sets of 2 together and then follow the rest of the pattern from HERE!
If this is totally confusing, sorry, let me know if you have questions :)

Well....I saw this yummy fruit pizza treat at a party and decided to make it. It was really fun and not hard at all and the best part......SOOOO GOOOD!!
Here is the recipe:

Old Glory Dessert

Source: Quick Cooking magazine

INGREDIENTS
1 tube (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough*
2 packages (one 8 ounces, one 3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
4 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
2 cups quartered fresh strawberries
DIRECTIONS
Press cookie dough into a greased 15-by-10-by-1-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice until smooth. Set aside 1/4 cup.

Spread remaining cream cheese mixture over crust. Decorate with blueberries and strawberries to resemble a flag.

Cut a small hole in a corner of a pastry or plastic bag. Insert star tip #16. Fill with reserved cream cheese mixture. Beginning in one corner, pipe stars in the spaces between the blueberries.

*Please Note: 2 cups of any sugar cookie dough can be substituted for the refrigerated dough.

Wood Blocks

Image
For an enrichment activity some of the girls in my ward taught us how to make these adorable blocks!
They are really simple and you can personalize it so many different ways!!
Here is what I did.....

~We got 2x2 in blocks of wood, you can get them anywhere from home depot to hobby lobby!
~Next we sanded the edges so they weren't sharp
~Get some scrapbook paper that you like and cut it in 1 3/4" squares
(I used 6 blocks so I had to cut out 36 squares)
~Then I took just a little acrylic paint and painted all the edges.

Here comes the fun part....MOD PODGE :)
~Take a foam brush and paint the block one square at a time and place the paper on the side you applied the mod podge then paint over the paper and let it sit o dry and move on to the next block.
~When they are all done and dried I took scrapbook letter stickers and spelled out my baby's name.

What a fun and cute little decoration for you or to give as a gift!

Happy Crafting! :)

Cute earring holder

Image
I actually made part of this one at an enrichment activity! It is just a frame with all the cardboard and glass taken out and some screen material stapled into the back and some tulle for the hanging part. I loved it but wanted to spruce it up a bit, so I grabbed some leftover black tulle that I had and twisted it with the other tulle.
Then I grabbed a few little strips of cute red and black fabric (that is for a upcoming project!) and started twisting and hot gluing until I had a little rosette! I found THIS TUTORIAL to help me learn how to make the rosettes. One one of them I twisted the fabric and some more black tulle together to get a different look.
Next I found some buttons and a monogram patch in my sewing box and hot glued them on.

Ta da! a fast and fun project done!!

Crochet baby blanket

My Grandma T taught me how to crochet when I was about 10. I have loved it ever since. She would always make an afghan for us (the grand kids) when we would have milestones in our lives, like weddings and graduation and such. Well.... I was still pretty young when my grandma passed away so so made me my last one for my 16th birthday. I decided that since there were just the 2 granddaughters, and my sister had a harder time learning because she was a lefty, that I would carry on the tradition of making all of my nieces and nephews (and Carsen) their blessing blankets. I love them all so much!!

My grandma was working on another one when she got sick and passed away. My aunt brought it to me to finish. I haven't finished it yet but it makes me feel so close to her when I am working on it. I love and miss her so much!

This particular blanket in the pictures was for Laini's blessing on the 4th of July. All of the kids in each family have different colored ribbon in the blanket so they know who's is who's.
Laini's is Purple. There is nothing better than seeing these sweet little babies being blessed in all white and they really are the ones that make these blankets complete!
I still need to get a picture with Laini in the blanket, but for now here is just the blanket!

I made this with a very simple stitches. I keep 2 strands together the whole time to keep it thicker. I started with a chain stitch about 55-60 chains( don't do it to tight, it looks better when it is more airy and open) then I go back and do a simple triple stitch in each one. at the end of the row add an additional chain and then start on the next row. keep going until you have about 50-60 rows, then start the shell stitch on the outside, go all the way around and finish with a ribbon about 5/8 inch and go up and down through the holes about 5 rows up. then tie a bow when the ends come together and sew the bow so it doesn't' come apart.
all done

This might sound a little confusing, sorry. Once you get it started you will see how easy it is. If anyone needs or wants me to show them personally, let me know! I would be happy to!

Darling Flower Clippy

I made this bow for my sister's newest baby, Laini. She was blessed on July 4th. She is so sweet and looked beautiful. I had so much fun making this bow. It was fast and easy!
What you need:
any type or color of a satiny fabric
(I also used a sparkly sheer fabric for in between layers of the satin to make it just a little more fancy)
a candle or flame of some sort
4-5 different sizes of circles to have as a pattern
thread
and either a jeweled brad or button for the middle. I just sewed on a button on this one.

So after you cut out the different sizes of circles hold the edges above the flame just until they start to melt a little and curl up, then keep turning till that one is finished.
Do all of the little circles(depending on how many you want on your bow) then stack them how ever you would like. I did every other one the sheer fabric and off set them all just a little so you can see more of the fabric.
Then hold them together and do a single stitch through the middle to hold them all together and then sew the button on. sew it on really well so it would not come off if the child pulled on it or bit it. If you use a brad then just poke or cut a small hole where you want the center and push through.
To finish it I just hot glued the little hair clip and ribbon on the back.
Now you have a cute bow to use or give away!!!
