Leaving my Girl in a Motel!

Aralie is moving into a brand new apartment bldg. across from her school..yay! Except it was not ready when we arrived, so she had to move into a Motel for a week. That was hard on a Mom to just drop her off in a Motel without getting her all set up in an Apartment. Thankfully she had Josue and a substitute Mom in April Bowen to help her get the finishing touches done to the big task of setting up your first apartment for the first time!

Dinner in SLC with Friends and Family

One big perk of having Aralie at college in Salt Lake is that The Bowens' are close-by!
They took us to a yummy Mexican restaurant called The Red Iguana! We had such a wonderful night catching up with long time friends!

We went to the Roof Top restaurant at The Joseph Smith Memorial Bldg. The view is just gorgeous from there. The food is absolutely Delicious! A wonderful way to spend our last evening with Aralie.

Hoping for a great year!

Summer Theater Class

Dateline Rock and Roll
Aliza participated in a drama class at her school this summer. They did a musical through the decades. She had tons of fun making props, learning different songs from the 1950's to the present. They did lots of quick change costumes. The last day they did a little performance.

One of the teachers was Mr. Schneider, her fourth grade teacher. He is an Excellent teacher! It was a great summer program, we hope they do it again next year.

Awards night for Jr. Guards

During the awards night all the kids participate in
The Macho Man
They run around to the other side of the lake, crossing this bridge to the other side....

Then they swim back across the width of the lake.

Here she is coming out of the water from the swim. Now she has to finish the second run to the finish line...

Image
Here she is crossing the finish line. She completed it in 15:23. She shaved more than three min. off her original time in four weeks. Next year she doesn't have to try out again.
It is such an amazing program!

Junior Lifeguards

Castaic Lake has a Junior Lifeguard program. You have to pass several swimming test in order to participate. You have to swim 100 yards in under 2 min. The first day of try-outs she did it in 2:18 just missing it. She tried out two weeks later and passed. The program is a tough one. 6 hours a day of physical work...swimming, running ect. On the fourth day they complete The Macho Man, which is running around to the other side of the lake then swimming back across the width of the lake.
I was nervous the first day she was going to do this. Aliza came home and said it was really hard, but she did it in 18 min and 36 seconds.

Her daily outfit for 4 weeks, so cute!

At the end of the session they compete against Bonelli Lake Jr. guards. In her age group 9-11 she came in 6th place for the Long Run, 8th place for beach flags and 2nd place in all around relay.
Great Job Aliza!

Broken Wrist

When I picked Hannah up from BYU Soccer camp this year, she told me she hurt her wrist. The next day she  was playing in a tournament and she hurt her hip again. We took her to the ER for an x-ray on her hip. Since she was still complaining about her wrist I had them x-ray it too. Both x-ray's they said were fine. Four days later still complaining about her wrist, I took her to the urgent care and had them x-ray it again. This time they came back and said yes it was broken. The next day we see the orthopedic surgeon and he put a hard cast on. That meant that she would miss her favorite tournament The Mustang Stampede.

She did travel with her team to the tournament hoping they would let her play. But it was a big NO! They would not let her on the field! Three weeks later it is off and in a brace, but still hurting.

Park City, Ut Avalanche Tournament

Image
LA Premier FC
Could the back drop for a picture be anymore beautiful! The club traveled to Park City, Ut to play in the Avalanche tournament. Hannah went at the last minute so she traveled to UT alone. Big step for her! They had a great experience. She added two more goals and an assist to her return.

Cerritos Tournament

Five months and a bazillion days of therapy later, Hannah was back on the field for her first tournament. She was nervous, I was nervous...but she played superbly!
She had a lot to prove. She had to prove to herself she could play with confidence, she had to prove to her coach she deserved her position and starting spot back. She had to prove to her new team, she was a good player. Her coach told her to "bring it"...she brought it alright!
The "Hannimal" was back.

Two goals and an assist for her first weekend out. During the second game, she was fouled hard. Her feet were clipped from behind and shoved in the back. She went down hard on her hip, she rolled over wide-eyed looking right at me. My heart skipped a beat, it seemed like slow motion. But, she stood up brushed off the grass and got back in the game. I think we both knew then that she could handle it and the stress was less.

A friendly visitor!

This big guy decided to make it's way across our lawn. I was hoping he was on the hunt for some yummy mice that have been bothering us. He/she let Aralie get right in it's way and take a picture, it stopped and posed even.
Both Leonard and the Neighbor lady being the scaredies they are put the snake on the other side of our brick wall. Alas, we still have mice!
