Last Date

I had this great idea that the baby would come early, but it was all wishful thinking. David could tell I needed a night out and my Mom offered to stay home with the kids. We went out to dinner and walked around at a car show. It sure lifted my spirits. Then I woke up the next day and I was still pregnant!

This pregnancy was different from my first two. I had so many instances of false labor. The contractions would start getting closer and then they would stop abruptly. One time David and I actually went to the hospital because they were close for more than an hour and I knew I was dilated to a 4. Of course when I got hooked up to the monitor they slowed down. I was embarrassed and frustrated to be sent home. I knew it was just a matter of time, but I was so done. I had way too many  desperate walks with my Mom trying to induce labor.

Ya know, I realized that when I took that Army Dental Corps Scholarship I was selling my soul to Uncle Sam….but come on, this is just going too far!!!  :)

Texan Fourth of July

In the morning we went to a parade in Belton. We were happy the Olson family joined us. It was very different then other parades we've been to in the past, but we still had a good time. There were only a handful of floats, most of the people that entered the parade were politicians or local businesses driving in cars with their logos on the side. Thankfully we were entertained by a Jazzersise group that did their workout behind a truck! They must have had a no candy rule, because not one piece of candy was thrown out. We ended up leaving early because we were so hot.

We went swimming in the afternoon. It was so refreshing. In the evening our ward had a BBQ with activities. The kids participated in a water ballon toss and a sack race. It was so nice to have a lot of fun things to for the holiday.

Sticky Summer

The summer started out great with 2 weeks of swim lessons. For the final class they ended up having a swim party.

We went to Sea World before I was supposed to stop traveling. It was hot and humid, but they had lots of opportunities to get wet. Preston asked if we could get in the splash zone during the killer whale show. After one splash he was done.

David loves to get the kids sports memorabilia every year.

Preston is crazy about books. The Magic Tree House is his favorite series right now.  We are trying to convince him that he needs to finish the whole book before he starts a new one. For awhile he had a pile of books with bookmarks in them.

These two started talking about the elaborate gifts they would get each other (video games, dollhouse). That's when I suggested the dollar store! Preston picked out purple nail polish for Claire and she was excited to get him water balloons.

A friend of mine heard Claire wanted a dollhouse so she gave us one her daughter didn't use anymore.   I had a smaller one that I had purchased earlier, but decided the house bigger than her would be more fun! They got their big presents later that night because I had Young Women's and couldn't pick the house up before that. They both flipped out.

Claire made him a card and a picture. He kept saying "cool".

Preston drew him a picture of the Titanic, something he thinks is cool right now.

Nana and Papa's Visit

  • While the older kids were in school Rhett got lots of attention while Nana and Papa toured the base. We met up with David and his parents took us to Chile's for lunch.
  • We went to the temple in Dallas and then went to a Ranger's game.
  • We had lots of peaceful nights on the porch just talking while the kids played in the water.
  • Nana was excited to take the kids shopping for their birthday and they were each able to pick something out. We had an early birthday celebration.

My boys were pretty nervous being so high up in the stadium seats. it didn't help that we were right by the ledge. We ended up walking around the lower levels instead. The nice usher saw our discomfort and told us we could sit somewhere else as long no one came to claim their seats.
