My roommate Brian came up with this concept and I plussed it with several of the gags in here. He did all the editing, v/o, shooting. I do make an appearance about half way through!
Abortion Chop
Just chop once, and abort. Wrote this one. You’re gonna love it!

Vlogbuster
Now that Wooden Nickel Shorts actually has an audience, I’ve decided to start updating my second YouTube channel (RobotsPiratesNinjas) with Vlog style videos, contest entries, and random what have-you. My first offering is an encounter I had with Dan Aykroyd this weekend.
I wrote a 4 page treatment for Ghostbusters III in 1993. I was in 3rd grade. When I found out that Dan Aykroyd was doing a signing, I dug it up and had him put his signature on it 😀

Oscar Buzzed
A simple pun I came up with this fall turned into a really great series just in time for the Academy Awards. I’m more than happy with the production values on this one, I took the time to ensure the sound was perfect, the lighting was golden and even wrote the theme song (my first foray into piano in a long while). I worked with Jeremy (our Oscar) to get topics together to rant about, though most of the opinions are from his twisted mind! Choose from 6 rants, though don’t miss what Oscar has to say about Best Picture!

Super Mario Wee!
After playing far too much Mario this fall, I came up with this rant about bathrooms and sanitation in the Mushroom Kingdom. After trying it out during a stand up set, I rewrote it and sent it to my pal Dane Boe at Gagfilms. He jumped at the chance to animate it and it’s going viral as we speak! Peaked at around the #33 most watched thing on YouTube.

Frozen vs. Sprint Remix
With the trailer for the new stuck-on-a-ski-lift survival horror flick “Frozen” making the rounds on the internet, as well as a Sprint commercial featuring the same dilemma, this remix had to be made.

The Replacinarium of Dr. Parnassus
With word of Terry Gilliam’s solution to recasting Heath Ledger in the unfinished “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”, this came to mind and then came to life!

Mario Brothers Rob Taxi
Another remix based upon a popular news story, this time footage was released of two guys dressed as the Mario Brothers robbing a poor cabbie in New York. I hoped the story would blow up, and it reached a certain critical mass, but nowhere near the front pages I was hoping. Still, I think plenty of people got to see this midi-laced Mario remix.

Some spooky Halloween fun courtesy of Hot Biscuit. I’ll only credit myself for knowing the Munsters theme by heart. Featured on the front page of Funny or Die!

F&#kapella
Wrote this one on the fly when thinking about Glee and filmed it on a whim with Hot Biscuit. Edited that week, I’m happy with the quality for such a speedy short.

The Spider-Man Crying Number
After “The Crying Number” was featured on Boing-Boing this week…
I got the chance to revisit an old idea I had been dying to put together for years.

Scariest Faces
Here’s a Halloween-time treat. I jumped at the opportunity to act in Dane Boe’s latest video “Scariest Faces”. I improvised a few lines, but for the most part this is Dane’s baby all the way.

Wooden Nickel: Echo Location
My latest sketch, a piece I have been working on all of August with the sketch comedy troupe Hot Biscuit. I wrote/directed/edited this one with the help of Brian Retchless as a DP. Based on true events.

Sonic Sketches
The three sketches posted here were written by Gian Molina and James Ross for their show “All You Can Eat” featured at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade theater in Los Angeles this summer (2009). I helped them with a bit of directing, a dash of DP work and all of the editing.

Wooden Nickel: The Pourne Ultimatum
The Pourne Ultimatum was an idea I had while watching the first two Bourne movies but never had the chance to make. Luckily, MTV was hosting a video contest for the 2008 movie awards and the Bourne Ultimatum was on the list of films they were looking to spoof. I made it to the top 12 with this entry, a semi finalist in the competition! Won me a flip video camera at that.

Wooden Nickel: The Peeps
Released the week before Easter in 2009, this marshmallow peep version of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” became one of my most well received peices ever.

JibJab: The Stuff You Learn

A parody style of NBC’s “The More You Learn”, JibJab’s “The Stuff You Know” series was created as a snarky public service announcement for greetings and occasions. I wrote a good deal of them and they were plussed by great editing from Andy Ochiltree as well as amazing delivery from Jordan T. Maxwell. Here are three of my favorites.
