Grampy Mike has really gotten into Rodeos lately. So he invited us all to go to one in Spanish Fork. I have to say that I did enjoy it and I’d gladly go again.

LongCourse State
Ellie and Cassidy competed at the LongCourse State meet this week. Ellie swam everything butterfly! She competed in the 100 M Fly and the 200 M Fly. Only 10 girls in the state qualified for the 200 M Fly. Ellie wanted to swim faster than at least 2 of them to make it into the competition “A” Final. Well, she did! She swam the 200 Fly twice in one day, about 5 hours apart, and got 8th in the state. Probably the hardest racing she’s done in a single day.
Cassidy had a full schedule with 6 events. She made finals in 4 of the events which is great for just barely turning 11 and moving up to the next age group. She ended up tying a swimmer in the 50 back for 18th place. Only the top 16 get into finals, but 18th is the second alternate. So Cassidy had to do a swim off to determine which girl claimed that spot. She swam against Layleigh Turner from Clearfield. Cassidy knows this girl because she raced her a lot at the state short course meet. She’s a super nice girl with great sportsmanship. She even gave Cassidy a hug at the end of the race. Both of them dropped a ton of time in the swim off and their times would’ve gotten them into the “A” Final if they swam that time earlier in the day. It was a little stressful at first when we realized Cassidy was doing a swim off only 20 mins before it happened, but it was worth it in the end.

Ellie’s butterfly
A swim team parent caught a few pictures of Ellie’s beautiful butterfly. Glad they shared these with us!
