It's been awhile...We are still thinking of you Dave.
Dave loved basketball and really loved this time of year with the March Madness. When the games would come to Boise, Dave would use creative ways to get tickets and great seats the games.
Back in '01 he found us four tickets for the games and they were the last row on the lower level behind the bucket, or so we were told. Then we show up and find out they were temporary seating and wheelchairs, etc had moved in, leaving us no where to sit. So when I get there, I see Dave negotiating with the usher and carefully explaining our plight. In about 5 minutes time he had negotiated seats for all four games that day ranging from first row right under the basket to 5 rows up and mid court. We were very pleased to say the least. That was the best day of basketball and won't be topped. All games went down to the wire, and we enjoyed them all from Dave's seats. Great memories..it was an awesome day.

In Honor of Dave...BBQ at Brad's
We are planning a get together at Brad's house this coming Monday, July 7th at 6pm-ish. Brad hosted a BBQ last summer with Dave and family. We had a great time catching up with everyone and wanted to continue the tradition and remember our great friend. We will continue our Dave stories and memories. All are invited.
We plan on pitching in a little $$ for food and some kids activities. Brad will have the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, etc. Bring a side dish or desert if you can. Hope to see you all there. To get to Brad's...go to Eagle and proceed to the really big house.
Call Brad (371-9100) or Steve (602-3597) with any questions.

Fireworks
David brought Emily up to Garden Valley for the fourth of July. I think it was 1998. We had a lot of fun amidst the craziness that goes in GV on the 4th. Everyone in the town gets together in the center of town and lets off fireworks in the same area at the same time. You have to be on your toes. We had a blast with them.
BYU Party
I was able to have a party when I got into BYU all because of David. If it wasn't for him the whole family would have been surprised when the letter came. Somehow he was searching for information and IDs back in 2000 and found my name amongst the Coburns. He notified my parents and they threw me a big surprise party/letter opening. Thanks David. You also helped me figure out a way to find out ahead of the official letter from BYU for all my siblings as well so they all got a surprise party. All because of you!!! Thanks! :)

David made him swear.....
I can honestly say the only time that I EVER heard my Dad swear was in a conversation, ugh... ok he was yelling at David about some story that David had made up to get out of being in trouble and all I can remember is my Dad slamming his fist on the kitchen table and just exclaiming "Dammit David, quit lying!!!" it was about that time I high tailed it outta there. not wanting that sort a wrath to fall on me.

Wide Right.....
Continuing on Brent's football theme from below....

Dave and I had a neat opportunity to go to SuperBowl XXV down in Tampa, FL with our college roommates the Olsen brothers. Their dad worked for the Buffalo Bills at the time, and they were very generous to offer us tickets to the game. Being creative and poor college students we found some crazy deal on NW airlines that was pretty cheap but routed us from SLC to Minneapolis to Detriot, then to Memphis and then to Tampa. In fact, I believe Jeff and I landed in Tampa and Dave and James landed in Orlando and we drove our fancy rental car (see below) over to pick them up.
We rooted hard for the Bills but they came up a little short as the infamous kick went wide right. Despite the loss we had a great trip. The game was played in the midst of the gulf war and we all sang the National Anthem with a little more spirit that day. This was one of many fun things we did with the Olsen brothers during our BYU days.

After the bitter loss, Dave and I hopped on the UNLV bandwagon quickly as you can see from the tee shirts. They ended that season with a bitter loss as well.

BSU vs BYU

I don't know how many of you know that in recent years I have become a Face Painter at college football games, this pic is from BSU vs Nevada, before the fiesta bowl. I know that Brett knows about this Raider Fan type of behavior, as he saw my family at the USU/BSU game last year. and took a very nice group shot. I digress. For Some reason David HATED BSU!!, the jerk, and he hated even more that BSU beat BYU twice, and I never had a chance to talk to him about the two schools renewing the game. But to honor Dave, I have decided that on Sept 22, 2012 at TBA, I will dress up in as much BYU garb as I can find, mostly from Hal's kids, and that I will cheer for BYU to beat BSU. once. and I will do it from my South End Zone seats. I just wanted you guys to know. and if you look you should see me in the south endzone this year in Blue and Orange xheering on them Broncos. well as often as I can get home for games.
