So I’m back from a lapse into idleness again.
// Brothers in Arms – Hell’s Highway
Following the typical BiA setting, this one takes you back to Operation Market Garden, as SSGT Matt Baker. While certain parts were genuinely interesting, I found Baker’s constant soul-searching about whether or not he’s doing the right thing a tad bit annoying, especially when you consider him, in Hartsock’s words, “…trying to be [everyone’s] best friend.”
You never wanted to be squad leader, alright, so we got that. Get. Over. It. If it’s really *that* bad, non-volunteer, put in a transfer request to another unit or something. Just. Quit. Bloody. Whining.
Apart from that, story’s decent. Nothing smashing that’s for sure. As mentioned above…it tells the story of Market Garden through Baker’s perspective, with significant insights into his gradual lapse from stone-cold reality of red-hot war.
// Midterms
Oh yeah, it’s here again. The midway mark where you realize you’re closer to the end than the beginning. For me, it’s really close to the end of an exhilarating Foundation year. On one hand I’m glad to be done with it, but on the other hand I’m not very keen on leaving the tranquil atmosphere of HMC (when all and sundry aren’t making loud conversation just out of arm’s reach).
Second home, indeed. I spend, on average, 11 hours in HMC from Monday to Friday.

So the Wise were right.
It is taxing on the mind to have insight into the minds of others.
