Biography, interests, and friends.
Hi there! I'm dd, and despite not being an engineer, my main interest is software engineering.
I also partake in system administration, telecommunication administration, and technical writing.
System engineering and computer history fascinates me, so I'm very slowly learning it! I believe I can talk about certain things, like processor designs, memory ordering, and cache coherency.
Feel free to check out my portfolio to learn about my projects and my skillset!
I currently reside around the greater region of Montréal, Québec, Canada.
Fully bilingual in French and English. Wishing to learn a third language someday.
And before you ask, yes, I have several x86-based computers, even when I keep saying that I hate x86. Oh, don't we love compare-and-swap.
Starting in 2012, I got interested in software development when I attended college. That's when I started learning about C# with .NET 3.5, and Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate.
Some time later, I was writing a Motorola 68000 simulator, and decided to choose the username "dd68k", combining my initials and "68K" from the m68k. And by the time I decided to try writing an x86 emulator, I chose the username "dd86k", flipping the two digits. Both projects were short-lived.
Later in 2016, I started learning the D programming language, and starting porting a few TUI programs to it. This is also when I got interested in the inlined assembler, and started my ddcpuid project.
Within December 2019, after being amazed by various disassemblers during my years writing software, I started my Alicedbg debugger project.
In mid-2025, I finally managed to turn my hex viewer, ddhx, into a hex editor! It supports replace, insert, and deletion operations with full undo-redo support.
I have several interests in fictional stories and video game series such as Half-Life, Elite, and Touhou. I play a lot of solitaire games, like the Zachtronics Solitaire Collection. Oh, and, simulation games too!
