Love Letter to My Wife

Happy Valentines Debbie

It was fun to have a short getaway last weekend for Valentines day. So nice that we still love spending time together. Pretty rare that we can steal a night away--but nice that the kids are getting older and that Timmy lets us have a little space--even though he still keeps sneaking into our bed at night.

Thanks for celebrating 17 Valentines days with me--even though that one time I was in France and you were home with the kids (it was an interesting Valentines dinner for me by myself in a small French restaurant with all the French couples).

I am so excited about all the adventures we are going to share this year--looking forward to our big Sabbatical spending all of that time with you..going to be so weird to have 5 weeks off--going to be even weirder going back to work after that.

I look forward to trying to be my best self for you:)

Thanks for being such a wonderful, beautiful wife.

Love

Tim

Happy Happy 12th Birthday Sweet Sarah

Image
When Sarah was born my dad called her the energizer bunny because she kept going and going and going...... She still hasn't stopped. Sarah is bound to do great things with all her enthusiasm and compassion. I am so glad that she is my daughter and that she adds so much variety to our lives. It is fun to see who she is becoming! She has a great heart and would do anything for anyone she loves, even for those she doesn't. She doesn't like to see anyone hurting and is always wanting to help. She is an awesome girl! We love you Sarah! Happy 12th Birthday!

Christmas in Salt Lake

Tim had a free hotel night from his rewards that he had to use up before the end of the year so we decided to spend the night in Salt Lake. We have a season pass from This is the Place and we went to their Candlelight Christmas event. It was so much fun and we would recommend it to anyone that is thinking about it. My favorite part was the live nativity with a real baby. It was so quiet and peaceful and truly beautiful. We were able to participate in some pioneer activities... we made decorations for the town center tree, and we went to a puppet show, and we listened to stories. We ate dinner in the little cafe they have and it was delicious. Carolers came around and sang some really fun (and active) songs... they were great. We got to go on a train ride and see Father Christmas too. We hope to go again next year. We loved it more than going and fighting the crowds in temple square.

Then we went to Hatch's family Chocolates to get some hot chocolate. Ususally everyone just shares, but we all were cold enough and so we all got our own treat. Even Timmy can drink their vegan hot chocolate. Delicious!

We were able to stop by temple square and see the lights there. It was getting really cold and we were all getting tired, but it was still a good time.

The next day we fed Timmy's obsession with penguins at the Grand America hotel. Every year they have displays in the windows and you fill out their little "quiz" and you get a yummy treat at the end. Timmy of course was in Heaven seeing all the penguins, and the rest of us gobbled up the cookies. I don't know how they make them so yummy, but they really are fantastic (probably all the butter and eggs... we are not used to the richness that adds :-)). Timmy got his own little treat, and we all got to play in their fun little toy store there.

It was a really fun getaway.
