985 miles...about 4000 to go :-) Grateful for good travels today. And the hospitality we have been blessed with along the way so far.

Camping in Carlsbad

We went down into the cavern . A 700 ft decent with Switchback trail that felt like going down into the Grand Canyon in the dark with a roof over our heads. We saw so many amazing formations and learn some geology as we took a 2 mile loop around the Big Room.  We rode the elevator up. The girls earned their Junior Ranger badges and got a cool patch.

On our 8 hour drive to Phoenix  we saw ever changing scenery.  Desert, to high alpine forest, to rocky cliffs, White Sand Dunes NP,  then on to Saguaro NP.  These cactus are the size of trees.  They are really neat looking for these Georgians who have never seen anything like them.   But not my favorite place, the kids got attacked by jumping cacti, and several of us got some pricklies that sting.  One wrong step or trip and Bad News!!! 

For the next few days we are regrouping in Phoenix and then on to the Grand Canyon.

We are beginning a new video blog, created by Emma and Clare to document all of our adventures on our Roadtrip West 2016! We are going to lots of amazing places and will be learning so much. We wanted to be able to look back at the girl's initial reactions to sights like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone! This is just our fun way of preserving memories for our family. Gifts from the GrandParents!

Truth!

I have the best job.  In the midst of the chaos of the hospital.  The medicines, the codes and the random weirdness that happens.

There is the beauty that arises in the people that I meet.  Ultimately, that is where it is at for me.  I get to take care of people.  And I always want to know who I am taking care of.  So I ask questions.  

And then the Gold nuggets arise.  And I mean Gold.  I meet some of the most amazing 90 year old people.  Recently, meet this most beautiful couple. Mr. & Mrs S,  95 and 94.  They didn’t look a day past 70.  I know right.  Mrs S was patient and Mr S her husband by her bedside.

What is the secret I ask them. She said, “Ok, Listen sweetie”.  

Laughter she says.  Love he says.  

She says to me,” But it doesn’t matter how long you live.  It matters if you live on Purpose”. This is when I lean in.  On Purpose she says.  God’s Purpose.  She says to me,” Bring Joy to People, Bring Hope to People,  Bring Smiles to People”.  

She goes on to say to me, “Meet people where they are and show them Jesus”.

Me, I am shaking my head up down. I find a seat in the front pew of her room.  I am shouting Amen for the front aisle.  I am yelling,”Come on.  Come on”.  She says to me, “Don’t get caught up in the Here and Now of Life”.  She says to me bring, “ Yes, Bring Joy Here.  Bring Love Here. But point to where the Real JOY and HOPE live”.  

God’s Messenger from Hospital Bed.

Creation Museum Spring Break 2014

We started out Spring Break as speakers at a retreat for college students!  Emma and clare loved hanging out with all the students, because they play "college" alot!  The only thing they didn't like was that the students seem to NEVER sleep!

Creation Museum - in St. Petersburg, KY is only 30 minutes from Cincinatti, OH.  It took two full days to do and see everything and it's worth the trip!

Trip to visit our friends The Kratz Krew!  We love  you guys!!!!
