the nubbin

A rare instance of Nubby allowing Lucca to love him... but you can see how unenthusiastic Nubbles is about it. The bottom picture was closely followed by Nub decamping to higher ground.

sadie

Here are some action shots of Lucca loving Sadie. Sadie endures his attentions with a mixture of stoicism and outright sadness, but that's how she rolls. She never seems to remember that before we adopted her, she lived at the pound and thus her life is way, way better than it used to be. All she knows is that a cat named Santino is the boss of her, there's never enough chicken being doled out, and since Lucca arrived there are way fewer trips to the park. Poor Sadie!

steps

Yesterday Lucca took two steps on his own, not holding on to anything. He was playing with his blocks and I just happened to look up from my computer as he did it, otherwise I would have missed it... note to self: pay more attention.

He hasn't done it again, but he wants to. He'll walk to the edge of whatever he's holding on to, and look at where he wants to go, think about it, and then sit down and crawl over. It'll be soon that we have a walker! Oh, where did our little newborn go?

first bite

When we give Lucca his first bite of food he gets this look on his face.... like 'what the hell did you just put in my mouth, you crazy people?!?'

cats

Lucca loves the pets. The pets are not quite as enthusiastic about Lucca, but they behave themselves and even let him maul them occasionally. We've been working on the concept of "gentle," but Lucca either doesn't really get it yet, or just doesn't see the point. Why pat gently when you can grab a fistful of hair, or better yet, a tail and hold on tight?
