Inspiration
Coming from a highly populated country where accessing Healthcare has always been tough, we realized the need for a streamlined, faster and easier system that is time saving and highly efficient. Long wait times for appointments, delays in creating patient charts and prescriptions, no-shows wasting valuable slots, and fragmented insurance processes—these are persistent hurdles in the healthcare industry. Aarolic, an iOS app, derives its name from 'Aarogya'—a Sanskrit word for healthcare—and 'lic' for public, meaning 'healthcare for the public.' It was born from the vision of merging GenAI and healthcare to address these inefficiencies head-on. Inspired by a need for real-time, transparent, and automated healthcare workflows, we set out to build a platform that prioritizes patient well-being and hospital efficiency.
What it does
Aarolic provides three user interfaces to serve patients, healthcare providers, and doctors:
Patient Interface
- Personalized Pre-Diagnosis (GenAI Powered): Patients input symptoms and receive an AI-generated pre-diagnosis (for reference only, not a substitute for professional consultation).
- Doctor Recommendations: Filters include location, specialization, rating, education, consultation cost, etc.
- Appointment Management: Schedule appointments, pay a fraction of the fee to confirm appointments to avoid no show time wastage, and receive e-prescriptions after consultations on our app.
- Health Records & Insurance: Consolidates personal data, medical history, and insurance details in one secure location.
- Immediate Health History Update: After appointment, new data will be updated on our app under medical history previously given by the patient, and our app gives timely appointment reminders and can set medicine reminders.
Healthcare Provider Interface (Hospital Management)
- Doctor Database Management: Add or remove doctors, modify guidelines, and manage doctor schedules.
- Transparent Tracking: Monitor appointments, doctor activities, prescription orders, and procedure documentation.
- AI Summaries: Generate quick summaries of patient charts to improve hospital workflow and productivity.
- Analytics & Reporting: View revenue generation, output rate, and overall efficiency in real-time to promote growth.
Doctor Interface
- Dashboard & Scheduling: Doctors can manage their availability, organize weekly slots, and track upcoming appointments.
- Finance Insights: Monitor earnings, new vs. returning patients, and overall ratings and feedback.
- Appointment Details & AI powered E-Prescriptions: Access the AI-generated pre-diagnosis, review or update it, and issue an e-signed pre prescription generated by the AI and verified by the doctor that syncs instantly to the patient’s app.
- Insurance Integration: Patients can pay via insurance or direct transactions, with a portion of the consultation fee released to the doctor upon prescription deployment. All data is end-to-end encrypted in hash to safeguard patient confidentiality and maintain compliance.
How we built it
- GenAI Integration: Leveraged AI models to generate pre-diagnoses based on patient-symptom inputs.
- Multi-Faceted Interfaces: Developed separate UI modules for patients, providers, and doctors, each with distinct workflows.
- Secure Payment Gateway & Insurance Linkage: Incorporated payment solutions and insurance APIs, ensuring partial payment for no-show prevention.
- Database & Encryption: Employed secure databases with end-to-end encryption (hash-based) for medical records, prescriptions, and user profiles.
- Scalable Architecture: Built microservices to handle user management, scheduling, AI-based recommendations, and secure e-prescriptions.
Challenges we ran into
- Debugging & API Integrations: Ensuring seamless interoperability among AI engines, payment gateways, and hospital management systems.
- High Data Security Requirements: Maintaining HIPAA-grade encryption for patient records and dealing with sensitive insurance details.
- Real-Time Updates: Handling live scheduling changes and last-minute cancellations while keeping both doctors and patients informed.

- All-in-One Healthcare Hub: Integrated patient data, medical history, prescription handling, and insurance coverage into one secure app.
What we learned
- Clarity in Communication: Establishing clear specifications and goals early helps reduce misinterpretations during development.
- Holistic Skill Development: Gaining knowledge of multiple tools and frameworks (“ingredients”) empowers us to build flexible solutions (“dishes”).
- Iterative Feedback Loops: Frequent testing and stakeholder feedback proved crucial for refining AI suggestions and user flows.
- AI & Ethics: Reinforced the importance of clarifying that pre-diagnoses are for reference only and do not replace professional medical advice.
What's next for AAROLIC
- Firm Revenue Model: Expand billing capabilities, explore subscription tiers for premium features, and solidify partnerships with insurers and pharmacies.
- Subtle Upgrades & Feature Refinements: Enhance AI accuracy, improve user flows for booking and prescription management, and refine analytics dashboards. We are focusing to integrate feedback and rating further to continue engagement and authentic database.
- Pharmacy Ecosystem: Extend medication fulfillment partnerships to streamline prescription delivery.
- AI-Driven Diagnostic Tools: Further develop diagnostic models that provide real-time risk assessments for critical conditions.
