Inspiration

As climate change accelerates, communities worldwide—especially in vulnerable regions—face extreme weather, rising temperatures, and environmental uncertainty. Yet, many people lack timely, localized, and actionable information. We wanted to build a friendly AI agent that could bridge this gap and help people make better decisions in the face of environmental threats.

What it does

ClimateGuard is an AI-powered agent that provides: Disaster alerts for floods, storms, and heatwaves (static for hackathon) Personalized climate safety tips based on user location Sustainability guidance and eco-friendly habit suggestions Conversational support to improve climate awareness in simple language Mental wellness support during climate-induced stress Education & myth-busting around climate change All delivered through a friendly, always-available AI conversation on Agentverse.

How we built it

Built using Fetch.ai’s uAgents framework for decentralized agent-to-agent communication Used the ASI:One (asi1-mini) large language model for conversational intelligence Deployed and tested on the Agentverse platform Designed emergency mode triggers and dynamic prompts Integrated a static disaster helpline directory and behavior-aware messaging flow

Challenges we ran into

Handling context continuity across emergency and casual queries Designing for low-bandwidth scenarios in rural or disaster-prone areas Balancing AI tone between alertness and reassurance Limited real-time weather/disaster APIs due to hackathon constraints Creating an intuitive prompt structure with minimal false alarms

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully deployed a functional, scenario-ready agent on Agentverse Designed emergency workflows for climate-induced crises Created localized messaging patterns for India-specific needs Developed a concept that balances climate awareness and emotional support

What we learned

How to design emotionally intelligent AI agents that can assist during crises The power of conversational UX for awareness and action Working with Fetch.ai's decentralized architecture and ASI’s LLM for real-world applications Challenges and potential of building climate-tech tools for underserved areas

What's next for Climate Guard

As a climate-aware AI companion, ClimateGuard is just getting started. Our vision for its future includes both technical upgrades and social impact expansion: Real-Time Climate Data Integration Connect with APIs from IMD, NASA, and environmental monitoring stations to deliver accurate, hyperlocal climate warnings and insights. Satellite-Based Disaster Forecasting Leverage satellite data to detect early signs of floods, droughts, wildfires, and heatwaves — and notify vulnerable regions in advance. Multichannel Deployment Expand access to ClimateGuard via WhatsApp, Telegram, and voice-based IVR to reach remote, low-literacy users. Sustainability Coach Mode Provide personalized tips on how individuals and communities can reduce carbon footprint through habits, energy use, waste reduction, and green practices. Community Risk Alert Network Enable peer-to-peer disaster reporting and support networks using decentralized agent-to-agent alerts in local languages. Local Government & NGO Collaboration Partner with municipalities, relief agencies, and NGOs to integrate ClimateGuard into community resilience and awareness programs. Climate Literacy Gamification Launch educational games, daily climate quizzes, and challenge streaks to improve climate awareness among students and youth. Behavioral Insights Dashboard Use anonymized analytics to understand public sentiment and behavior change toward climate action — useful for policymakers and NGOs. Sustainable Policy Recommender Offer customized recommendations to local governing bodies on best-fit green policies based on community input and climate risk data. Open-Source Knowledge Base Contribute to a global, AI-curated repository of climate tips, local action guides, and emergency protocols.
