Journalism is one of the world’s most vital yet dangerous professions. In many countries, reporters risk harassment, censorship, or imprisonment simply for uncovering the truth. They often work in unstable or high-risk environments—like war zones and protests—where collecting firsthand information can jeopardize their safety and freedom.
We created Dronalist to automate journalism without biases and any risk! Dronalist is an autonomous journalist drone designed to gather and interact with information. The Dronalist identifies and tracks a subject using AprilTag-based computer vision, then records speech, asks context-aware questions, and documents responses.
It was challenging to synthesize the hardware and the software, but through dedication and repeated trials and one sleepless night, we were able to do it.
For future developments, we plan to develop an app for this autonomous system.
