Inspiration

My friends and I, who are engineers, enjoy spending time with our families while balancing our work. However, despite the need to support our families through our jobs, the daily desk work isn’t great for our health. That’s why I realized the necessity of a service that could help maintain the motivation to keep up with regular training.

What it does

With 'Share Fit,' you can effortlessly log your workouts with just a few taps after launching the app. Once your workout is recorded, the data is instantly shared with your friends, inspiring them to check out your routine or even motivate them to start their own training.

How to use

There are two main features, each designed to be simple and user-friendly.

Logging Workouts

  1. Launch the app
  2. Save your workout from the initial screen

You can review your saved data at any time.

Recording Body Measurements

  1. Launch the app
  2. Open the body measurement tab
  3. Record your height, weight, etc., by tapping the Add button

You can track the progress of your saved data through graphs.

How we built it

  • Designed a simple and intuitive UI using Figma by predicting and analyzing user behavior
  • Built the mobile app using ReactNative, with Firebase handling the server-side operations

Why did I build this?

I work out once a week, but I feel it’s not enough. My friends have also mentioned that despite having gym memberships to maintain a good physique, they rarely go. I created this app with the idea that by sharing our workouts, we could help each other stay motivated.

Challenges we ran into

We aimed for users in their 20s and 30s. To deliver a UI and UX that would satisfy our target audience, I drew inspiration from exploring and interacting with various designs. Additionally, working solo on this project meant I had to tackle every aspect, which was both challenging and enjoyable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Try out the app yourself. It’s designed and built to be intuitive for anyone to use without any discomfort. You won’t feel like it’s "designed by an engineer." It also operates quite smoothly, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with user interactions.

What we learned

I learned that creating a service solo in just one month is a bit crazy, but it’s also a lot of fun to build an app and have people use it. As an Indie Hacker, I’m steadily gaining knowledge and technical skills, and the more I learn, the more I want to create new services.

What's next for Share Fit

I want to start by helping people around me who struggle to maintain their training motivation. Gradually, I hope to grow this community and eventually make a difference in the lives of people worldwide, helping them lead healthier lives!
