Inspiration
Our inspiration for SkillTrend stemmed from the recognition of the rapidly evolving nature of Data Science and the need for professionals to stay updated with the latest technical skills. We made a platform to give individuals real-time resources for Data Science trends.
What it does
SkillTrend is a website that tracks and analyzes trends in Data Science technical skills. Data is gathered from reliable sources, such as job postings and existing datasets. The platform then provides users with up-to-date information on emerging skills, popular tools, and in-demand technologies in the field of Data Science.
How we built it
SkillTrend was developed using a combination of modern technologies and cloud services.
For the backend, we utilized MongoDB Atlas, a fully managed cloud database service, to store and manage the data. The frontend of SkillTrend was built using Angular and Material UI.
To host our product, we chose Google Cloud App Engine, a fully managed serverless platform. App Engine provided us with the scalability and reliability needed to handle user traffic efficiently. We implemented continuous deployment using Google Cloud Build, enabling us to automatically deploy updates to our application as soon as new changes were pushed to our repository.

Challenges we ran into
During the development of SkillTrend, we encountered challenges in obtaining accurate and reliable data from various sources. The dynamic nature of the field of Data Science also posed difficulties in capturing and interpreting trends effectively. Additionally, striking a balance between simplicity and providing comprehensive insights was a significant challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have created a platform that empowers individuals in the Data Science community to stay ahead of the curve. SkillTrend's ability to provide real-time insights and track trends in technical skills has helped countless professionals enhance their knowledge and make informed decisions about their career paths. Our accomplishment lies in the positive impact we have had on the growth and success of individuals in the field of Data Science.
What we learned
We learned how to leverage MongoDB Atlas features, such as automatic scaling and flexible document structures, to handle the dynamic nature of Data Science trends.
What's next for SkillTrend
Moving forward, we have exciting plans for SkillTrend. We aim to expand our data sources and improve the accuracy and comprehensiveness of our trend analysis. We will introduce personalized recommendations and learning paths tailored to individual users' needs, further enhancing their professional growth.
