Inspiration
We all know the importance of presentations in hackathons, but many participants struggle with delivering impactful and effective presentations, due to lack of experience or nerves. This was the main inspiration behind SpeakEase, a tool designed to help participants hone their public speaking skills and perfect their presentations before the hackathon.
What it does
SpeakEase is a platform that provides participants with resources, tips and feedback to improve their public speaking skills. Participants can practice their presentations in front of a virtual audience/recorded judges and receive feedback on their performance such as Loudness, Listenability, Filler words and Speaking Pace
How we built it
We built SpeakEase using a combination of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, which provide participants with real-time feedback and recommendations based on their performance.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding the right balance between providing helpful feedback and not overwhelming participants with too much information. We also had to ensure that our virtual audience was diverse and representative of real-life audiences, so that participants could receive accurate and meaningful feedback.
What we learned
We learned that there's a real need for a tool like SpeakEase in the hackathon community, and that participants are eager to improve their public speaking skills. We also learned that machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies can be used to provide real-time and personalized feedback to users.
What's next for SpeakEase
Our goal is to continue improving and expanding SpeakEase to make it an essential tool for all hackathon participants. We're also exploring partnerships with hackathons and sponsors to provide SpeakEase as a valuable resource for participants. The future is bright for SpeakEase, and we're excited to see it grow and help participants deliver the best presentations possible!
