StepSquad is a mobile-first social fitness web app that turns everyday walking into a shared, rewarding experience for Singapore’s Smart Nation. Targeted at students, young working adults and HR organisers, it combines step tracking, social accountability and meaningful rewards to nudge people towards healthier, more active routines.

Users log or sync steps into a clean, mobile dashboard showing daily progress, streaks and weekly trends. They can add friends, form squads and compete on individual and group leaderboards. A unique shared-point pool lets squads collectively earn and approve redemptions, encouraging collaboration instead of just solo competition.

Events such as scavenger-hunt photo walks add playful, place-based challenges that get people exploring neighbourhoods on foot. A built-in rewards engine supports personal, group and donation-style rewards, with clear points history and admin tools for organisations to manage campaigns and detect suspicious step patterns.

Under the hood, StepSquad is designed as an integration-ready platform: APIs, schemas and stubs are prepared for future Singpass identity verification, Apple Health / Google Fit ingestion and external reward providers, while today’s prototype uses mock data. This makes StepSquad both demo-ready now and practical to scale into real-world pilots later.
