Our journey began with a simple, universal truth: investing is intimidating. The financial world often feels like a storm with no compass—time-consuming, overwhelming, and full of Wall Street jargon. When our team gathered, we discovered a shared beginning: we all once felt lost, wanting to invest but fearing the complexity and the risk of losing money.

We asked ourselves: What if we could build a guide? A copilot for your financial journey? This question became our obsession. We envisioned an education-first platform where the hassle and fear were gone, replaced by a guided, safe environment. We wanted to create a tool that speaks your language and empowers you to learn gradually as you go. That’s why we built Vestie — your AI investment copilot.

  • Your 24/7 AI Strategist: While you sleep, Vestie simulates your portfolio using AI. It works tirelessly in a virtual, risk-free environment to identify patterns, spot opportunities, and plan your next move effortlessly.
  • Collaborative Intelligence: Your perspective matters. You can share your own market insight—from articles, trends, or personal intuition—and Vestie integrates it directly into your strategy. It’s a unique partnership between human instinct and machine intelligence.
  • True End-to-End Automation: Behind the scenes, Vestie’s AI handles everything end-to-end. How we built it?

To bring our vision of an AI investment copilot to life, we focused on building a seamless, intelligent system from the ground up.

  • The Brain (AI & Machine Learning): The core of Vestie is an AI agent designed to handle everything "end-to-end." We used trained and guided chatGPT apis in conjunction with custom tailored investment strategies to create the simulation engine that analyzes market data, stress-tests strategies, and integrates user insights.
  • The Backend: We engineered a robust backend using Node.js and Express to manage the continuous stream of live market data and power the AI's decision-making process, ensuring Vestie is always planning your next move.
  • The Frontend: We were determined to make the experience "simple, even fun." Using React and TypeScript, we crafted a user-friendly interface that translates complex data into clear, actionable insights, truly creating a "low knowledge load" environment.
  • Data & APIs: We connected to premier financial data APIs to feed our simulation engine, making Vestie’s virtual portfolio management as realistic and effective as possible.

Challenges we ran into

Building an AI that could truly act as a copilot presented significant challenges.

  • Designing Adaptive Investment Strategies: It was a monumental task to program an AI that goes beyond basic formulas. We had to teach it to develop nuanced strategies and, crucially, to understand and integrate a user's personal intuition—like an article or a hunch—into its data-driven worldview.
  • Creating a Smart, Reliable AI Agent: An AI that simulates your financial future while you sleep has to be impeccably reliable. Ensuring our agent was always on, always learning, and always ready to act on new information was a major engineering hurdle that required a resilient, fault-tolerant architecture.
