Inspiration

We wanted an innovative way to facilitate student-teacher communication during Google Slides presentations.

What it does

It is a Chrome extension that allows students to post comments on a Google Slides presentation, to vote on them, and to have popular comments appear on the professor's presentation.

How we built it

We built the frontend using HTML/CSS/JS, and we built the backend using NextJS and Amazon RDS.

Challenges we ran into

Building server-client communication

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we created a server that we could access from the Chrome extension.

What we learned

We learned many new technical skills that will be useful for future tech endeavours. These include frontend skills such as HTML/CSS/JS, and backend skills like setting up a server, learning TS, setting up relational databases (and relating them to servers), and writing NextJS.

What's next for ZotterPoint

We are going to deploy the backend and make it fully functional for all users!
