Mason turns 9

IMG_9300

My sweet sweet boy! Turned 9. He is in 3rd and has been diagnosed with ADD. Which has changed him. The medication subdues him but enables him to excel in school. His grades are amazing now and we can see some major intelligence in him. He is as always so happy and fun-loving and enjoyable to be around.

He had a super fun birthday party at Battlefield Knoxville.

Easter

The weather around here has just been yucky. Rainy and cold for months. The occasional warmth and sunshine makes it all better but this year Easter was dreary.

IMG_9253

Hunting eggs inside. Miles decided he was too big to hunt eggs so he helped  hide the eggs and did a great job at that.

Love this shot so much. Look at the happy faces and my funny Mason for his thinker pose.

As you can see Mason was full of himself while taking pictures and we got some great pictures as a result.

March Miscellaneous

March was fun and short it felt like. We had a trip to Charleston, the flu, science fair, Bible Bowl and a day at Children’s Hospital with Mason for some GI issues and baseball season started. Fun Month!

IMG_9165

LOVE this picture.

IMG_9167

It is safe to say that these two love each other.

IMG_9170

A first for this family. Science Fair. Miles and I did science fair. We took ballpark dirt, mustard, ketchup and chocolate sauce and used 4 different types of laundry detergent to see what was the best stain remover. We used homemade laundry detergent, Tide with bleach, All, and Walmart brand.

photo (25)

The results were that the homemade detergent works about as good as the rest. Nothing did well on chocolate. I am using up all the detergent and I cant see any difference with any of them except that I am not a fan of the homemade because it does not have any fragrance.

And of course there is baseball. Miles is really hitting the ball great. I'm sure is is partly due to his determination but also probably because our basement is now a batting cage.

I never would have imagined my basement being this but I love it. Miles hits every day.

Love me some Rowdies!

Spring Break

We had a wonderful Spring Break trip as a family. We went to Charleston, SC in a camper and in spite of the cold weather we had fun.

Climbing trees

The next day we went to tour a plantation. It was so fun but sooooo cold.

IMG_9218

Heavy coats in Scout Carolina the last week of March. No fun.

IMG_9222

The Plantation we toured had over 100 acres of land that was used for rice farming but is not full of wildlife so we bundled up and went on a little train ride to see the wildlife. We froze. The boys were laughing at me saying I look like Jace from Duck Dynasty with a hat on. After the tour we went to the car to warm up then at lunch in the lawn of the Plantation home. We toured the house which was very interesting then went to the petting zoo.

IMG_9232

How cool is this peacock?

IMG_9242

Yes it was that cold. Sweatshirt and north face. Mason was taking pictures with his mini.

We ended our trip with a visit to Downtown Charleston. We shopped the market and took a horse buggy tour around downtown. It was warmer that day. We also enjoyed lots of family time playing games and sitting by the camp fire.

Denton Boys

I am so proud of my boys. I know they are hard workers and kind. I ‘m always telling them to stand out be different be the best you can be. Pick up trash, hold open doors, seek moments to help and please be polite. I am so proud of them for doing it. They were both given an award at school for standing out and being the best. Mason got the Admiral Award for always doing what is asked of him and going above the request and always having a happy willing heart.

I'm so proud of him and so glad he was recognized for his greatness. I love my sweet spirited, smart Mason.

IMG_9142

Look at that BIG boy! He is getting so tall and so mature. I am amazed by his work ethic, determination and love to be successful.

IMG_9144

Even my big guy who never shows emotions publically is smiling so big.

IMG_9158

Miles got the Good Citizenship award. It’s the highest honor the school gives. Its basically just for being good and outstanding. Yup My guy for sure. Can you tell I’m a proud momma.

What a blessing my boys are to me. I’m so thankful for them.

Oh December was just magical as it should be. Pancakes with santa, Miles played basketball, we enjoyed all the activities Christmas has to offer, enjoyed our time with Becca and Billy and their little ones.

What a blessed year we had. I will try to take more pictures in 2013 and do a better job documenting out crazy fun lives.
