No Pain No Gain!

I  switched on the television this morning to have a look at the on-going India-England match. When I switched the Tata-Sky set top box on, the home channel was playing the Making of Aamir Khan’s body for Ghajini. I thought lets watch on.

Aamir before!
Aamir before!
Aamir after!
Aamir after!

And then I was left spell-bound. Heck that man worked hard man! Working daily for more than a year he succeeded in getting a body worth of Mr. India (if not better) and those much hyped about 8-packed abs!

Daily 4 hours non-stop without any off-day for 13 months Aamir sweated it out , sometimes shrieking with pain while doing crunches and pull-ups, but he didn’t give up, and the result is in front of everyone to look at. This ultimate dedication to one’s work is very difficult to come by these days.

This sudden transformation in the physique of my favourite actor has inspired me to get in shape too( yeah I am pretty out of shape!). I will do it, Believe it!

All Hail the King!

I became a devotee all over again of the only God that there is : Sachin Tendulkar. The match winning innings against the visiting English side in the 1st test of the RBS Series was nothing short of an unbelievable innings.

The calmness with which he handled the situations, the ultimate poise he showed on the pitch, the pep-talks he gave to Yuvraj Singh, and most importantly the tremendous victory that he bestowed M.S. Dhoni’s side with was a treat for all cricket lovers.

Indians set with a daunting task of getting 387 runs to win the match with 126 overs at their disposal, got off to a rocketing start (on the 4th day), as Man of the Match Virendra Sehwag blasted away the initial pace and spin attack of the English men. When the final day of the test begun India had to score 250 odd runs for victory and they had 9 wickets in hand. Dravid fell early to Flintoff, but Sachin and Gambhir steadied the innings a bit. A few overs before lunch Gambhir fell too. Laxman joined Tendulkar and the sparkle that Laxman showed promised a lot. But just after lunch Laxman threw away his wicket to the debutant offie Swann.

After that it was Yuvraj and Sachin all around, and the fielders and bowlers couldn’t do a thing. They even tried to “slang” Yuvraj out but the sheer calmness of Yuvraj foiled all their plans.

It was a scintillating win for India as it were England who dominated 70 % of the match and yet ended up in the losing side. As Kevin Peterson accepted, it was the master who frustrated them and snatched the game away from them, bit-by-bit! The maestro dedicated his century to the brave men who died saving Mumbai in the recent terrorist attack on the city (the little master’s home town!)

All hail the Mighty Sachin!

Out of will!

You must have heard people saying – ” I am Out of Money/Luck/Energy “and so on.. but I am quite sure that the term “Out of Will” is new for all of you. Well I am Out of Will.

By will I dont mean the will that a man makes to distribute his property etc. after his death, I mean the will that forces a man to carry on with life and do the things which he finds uninteresting but which are important or rather essential for him to survive. My will power failed me not once or twice but more than a dozen times this semester. I willed myself not to think about it, yet it was the only thing I thought about. I willed myself not to be weak, but weak is what I was!

What happened to the will power I used to be proud of? I really am feeling bad, as it was a trait that defined me right from the very beginning.

I guess  I will have to recultivate it – Yeah will can be cultivated, quite like crops and tobacco and I intend to be a good farmer, who sows waters and reaps well!

May it all go well!
