Best Anime Characters – Part I

Its been a while since I were first introduced to the world of cartoons and anime, and with time I have seen the development on the world of animes, be it in technology, or realness or even the storylines. Though I am only 20 at this juncture, yet 2 decades is a lot of time to be able to pick out 5 of my most favourite cartoon characters ever. I haven’t put an order here ; its as they came up in my mind. So here goes :

1. Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto

Naruto Uzumaki is the lead character of the Japanese anime, Naruto. His character has been shown initially as one of a neglected and shunned child, who houses the monster Nine Tailed Fox in him. This makes him industrious and very very eager to prove himself to the people around him that he is a hero, and for that he wants to become the Hokage of the Leaf Village, the strongest Shinobi in the whole Ninja world.

The major traits of Naruto that instanly makes you a fan of him is his never-say-die appraoch, his capability to do some real hard-work, the meaning he gives to each of the bonds and each of the relationships he forms with his peers, and the tremendous penchant for making you laugh.

2. Joe Maya

Image

Joe Maya is the lead character of the Japanese anime Ninja Senshi Tobikage or Ninja Robots which was telecat in Cartoon Network in the mid 90’s in India.

In the anime he is shown as a sixteen year old boy who lives with his father in human colony n Mars, who has the dream of returning one day to Earth, his home planet. In the pcourse of events he encounters three human-like aliens and his life changed forever. Amongst the three aliens was their princess Romina Rodario with whome Joe falls in love at first sight. While saving the three aliens from atacking kiler robots, Joe hides in an object which turns out to be The Golden Ninja, a manually operated robot, which he quickly masters and uses to destroy the attackers completely.

It was his rebellious and impulsive behaviour that vaused all the adventures that he had in his life and this made him a favourite of mine too.

3. Yagami Light

Image

Yagami Light, the lead character of the Japanese Manga and Anime Death Note is by far the characterm which I have liked the most.

In the series Light has been pictured as an extremely intelligent, athletic, popular, but bored, young man who finds the death note belonging to the Shinigami Ryuk by pure chance and not by some design. Light kills all the criminals of the world, hence getting the title of Kira from the general public.  The way Light uses his intelligence to fool one of the most intelligent men of the world is extremely exceptional.

Though the story starts off with him being a Grey character, during the end of the series Light becomes more of a dark character but still the charm he infuses in the story is just great.

4. Baloo

Image

Who can ever forget to mention the chubby bear pilot of the mighty cargo plane Seaduck? Naah i dont think anyone can.

Baloo simply rules the screen in the American anime Talespin both due to his sheer size and due to his being the lead character. He is shown as a bear pilot, who is mutt-headed but is full of guts and determination to get the job done. His loving and caring nature is what wins ones heart. All the adventures that he goes on with his cargo plane Seaduck used to simply mesmerise me during the whole of my childhood. Even today I like to watch the fun filled Baloo whenever and wherever I get the chance to do so.

5. L

Image

L. Lawliet or simply L is one of the major characters of Death Note. He is the detective who takes the responsibilty of finding who the real Kira is, and ascertains in a veery short period of time that Kira was Yagami Light.

L has been shown as a super-intelligent, super-detective whose analytical skills are extremely exceptional. He has been shown as a person who has trouble in understanding people’s feelings and yet knows what feeling something means and how to use it while in an investigation. A shrewd and intelligent man that he is, L falls for the friendship of Yagami Light which finally becomes the reason of his death.

Although he is more of a villain in the series, L is one of brightest faces of Death Note with all his strange mannerisms and the special liking for sweets and deserts endearing him to the viewers.

Death

According to Wikipedia, Death is the permanent termination of the biological functions that define a living organism. But in the practical world, death is much more than the mere termination of a body. Death is the end, the final destination of the journey of life. It breaks all the shackles that bind a person to earth, all the bonds, all relationships, all feelings, everything.

Yet death leaves behind memories, which makes those who are left behind groan in agony, and yet smile in times of great sorrow. It makes people sit-back and just remember the golden-moments shared, and those which could have been shared but weren’t.

Death makes you remember how much you loved the one who went away, how much you cared and how much you miss the absence. It is said that only the body dies, the soul is invulnerable. But, still the physical embodiment of the soul, the attire is what connects you to the people. You share jokes with the attire, you fight with the attire and even love the attire, and when the attire isn’t there anymore…well there comes in a never filling void that haunts you throughout your life.

However hard you cry, however frantically you grope…the one who goes away never ever comes back. However hard you wish you could have done more,  you can’t anymore. However hard you try to remember what in light moments you used to talk to each other, you feel that there was something that was left unsaid, undone, unasked, unknown…and now it never can’t be said or done or asked or known. Its all over. Its not a comma, its a FULL STOP.

The End….

Luck By Chance

Image

I had once listened to the songs of the then ‘Coming-soon’ movie Luck By Chance a Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen, Isha Sherwani starrer. Though the cast doesn’t seem that high quality by the names, yet belive me each one of the actors have done tremendous jobs.

Farhan Akhtar, as Vikram J. Singh has portrayed the role of a struggling actor who has a dream of making it big in the Hindi Film Industry, but is really been bogged down by the rejcetions and then by the criticisms of his best friend with such eloquence and grace that it becomes really difficult to encertain if its real or reel. Konkona Sen, as Sona Mishra another struggling actor is as sparkling as her roles in Page 3 and Life in A Metro.

The story of the film is quite simple, and yet the great performances of the actors keep you hooked on to the screen till the very last of the movie. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is one of the most enhancing aspects of the movie. The song Yeh Zindagi Bhi will become an insant favourite of all music lovers, its a real lifting ode to the dreams by Shekhar Ravijani and Loy Mendonsa. The folkish tune of Baaware performed by Shankar Mahadevan, givs a real variety to the overall album.

On a scale of 5 I will rate this movie 4.5! So do give it a try!

Cheers!

Confessions!

Well its again a pretty long time since I blogged and this is becoming a habit, a bad bad habit. I have become lazy, I agree and apart from that whatever free time I get these days, I spend it on DOTA. Now that I think of it, I have been wasting even my study hours on this stupid computerised running around with a sword in the hand looking for fellow heroes to kill or rather PWN!

Image

I mean there is a lot to life apart from DOTA, and that is the truth that no Jazbaman can deny! I even have tried my hands (rather legs) on football and you know what the amount of physical exercise it gives makes me feel light (though I am a heavy dude!) and even makes me feel DOTA repellant. Finally, I have found an antidote I guess!

Now, coming back to the original problem of laziness, I have tried to blog not once more than ten times lst week, failing each time due to DOTA, a kinda Writers Block, Naruto etc.

Its time now that I come back strong and hard on to the field of blogging! Believe it!

Bajrangi The Great!!

Every new semester brings with it loads of new books to be bought, and books don’t come cheap at all these days, especially engineering books. It can get so bad that only 3 books may make you cough up more than a thousand rupees if not more! That’s the reason we all students hail Bajrangi Stores from the deepest part of our hearts.

Bajrangi Old and New Books Stores is the place where we all go whenever a new semester starts to sell old books and buy new ones in exchange, and with luck we get ourselves some ultimate deals (getting 5 books for under a thousand!!). Had it not been for this store, our pockets would have dried much early than expected.

This guy Bajrangi Sahu started this shop as just a peddler selling  a few shabby notebooks and small paperbacks. Soon people started selling him books and he started selling those second hand books to other people at half the cost and his business flourished soon after. Now there are 3 branches of the shop here in Ranchi and all are doing bumper business. It has been a great success story for him. Now that Bajrangi himself is a Government teacher, his brothers are running the shops but the Legend Of Bajrangi lives on!

Many more shops have come up too seeing the success of Bajrangi Stores, and this has become a dream come true for all those students who have the will to read but not much means. These shops with their cheap rates for books along with the option of availing books on rent, which has really facilated learning for the needy students. These people have done a great job. We would be always thankful to them!

Yellow!

I started listening to Coldplay after one of friends insisted that I should do so, and now I don’t regret it even a bit. I have started to love this band and some of their songs are now growing on me!

Image

Yellow is one of those songs. It is one hell of a ear fest, all the melody modulations and the extremely lovely lyrics made this song an instant favourite of mine. And now that I have seen its video (the live version) I love it even more.

All their albums, be it Parachutes, A Rush of blood to the head, X&Y or their latest album : Viva La Vida they all are phenomena in themselves. The songs like Cemeteries of London , 42, Viva La Vida etc. simply rock you out of your seats.

Coldplay simply Rox!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to one and all!

I hope this new year brings and end to all the unrest in the world (yeah its utopian but still it wud be nice!). May this year bring an end to the Kashmir problem, the Gaza-strip problem, the LTTE problem and so many other problems that keep on disturbing the world peace. May this year bring an end to the terror that is infesting the whole world like lice.

May this year be the best year yet!

No Pain No Gain!

I  switched on the television this morning to have a look at the on-going India-England match. When I switched the Tata-Sky set top box on, the home channel was playing the Making of Aamir Khan’s body for Ghajini. I thought lets watch on.

Aamir before!
Aamir before!
Aamir after!
Aamir after!

And then I was left spell-bound. Heck that man worked hard man! Working daily for more than a year he succeeded in getting a body worth of Mr. India (if not better) and those much hyped about 8-packed abs!

Daily 4 hours non-stop without any off-day for 13 months Aamir sweated it out , sometimes shrieking with pain while doing crunches and pull-ups, but he didn’t give up, and the result is in front of everyone to look at. This ultimate dedication to one’s work is very difficult to come by these days.

This sudden transformation in the physique of my favourite actor has inspired me to get in shape too( yeah I am pretty out of shape!). I will do it, Believe it!

All Hail the King!

Image

I became a devotee all over again of the only God that there is : Sachin Tendulkar. The match winning innings against the visiting English side in the 1st test of the RBS Series was nothing short of an unbelievable innings.

The calmness with which he handled the situations, the ultimate poise he showed on the pitch, the pep-talks he gave to Yuvraj Singh, and most importantly the tremendous victory that he bestowed M.S. Dhoni’s side with was a treat for all cricket lovers.

Indians set with a daunting task of getting 387 runs to win the match with 126 overs at their disposal, got off to a rocketing start (on the 4th day), as Man of the Match Virendra Sehwag blasted away the initial pace and spin attack of the English men. When the final day of the test begun India had to score 250 odd runs for victory and they had 9 wickets in hand. Dravid fell early to Flintoff, but Sachin and Gambhir steadied the innings a bit. A few overs before lunch Gambhir fell too. Laxman joined Tendulkar and the sparkle that Laxman showed promised a lot. But just after lunch Laxman threw away his wicket to the debutant offie Swann.

After that it was Yuvraj and Sachin all around, and the fielders and bowlers couldn’t do a thing. They even tried to “slang” Yuvraj out but the sheer calmness of Yuvraj foiled all their plans.

It was a scintillating win for India as it were England who dominated 70 % of the match and yet ended up in the losing side. As Kevin Peterson accepted, it was the master who frustrated them and snatched the game away from them, bit-by-bit! The maestro dedicated his century to the brave men who died saving Mumbai in the recent terrorist attack on the city (the little master’s home town!)

All hail the Mighty Sachin!

Out of will!

You must have heard people saying – ” I am Out of Money/Luck/Energy “and so on.. but I am quite sure that the term “Out of Will” is new for all of you. Well I am Out of Will.

By will I dont mean the will that a man makes to distribute his property etc. after his death, I mean the will that forces a man to carry on with life and do the things which he finds uninteresting but which are important or rather essential for him to survive. My will power failed me not once or twice but more than a dozen times this semester. I willed myself not to think about it, yet it was the only thing I thought about. I willed myself not to be weak, but weak is what I was!

What happened to the will power I used to be proud of? I really am feeling bad, as it was a trait that defined me right from the very beginning.

I guess  I will have to recultivate it – Yeah will can be cultivated, quite like crops and tobacco and I intend to be a good farmer, who sows waters and reaps well!

May it all go well!
