Updating February Life

Image So I know it's been awhile since I've posted, so here it is.

Dan has been teaching me how to snowboard! I bought a board from a friend of mine and we got the rest of the equipment and waited for a good day to go, which happened to be Valentines Day! Both Dan and I aren't a big fan of Valentines day anyway, so we were fine with not really doing a whole lot that day. But I ended up having a good time and I was learning quick the secrets of snowboarding! Well, maybe not so much, but I do enjoy it! Dan is an excellent teacher! We wanted to have lesson number two, but the day that we planned to go, we found that all the hills were all iced over. Which isn't so good for snowboarding. So we post poned the lesson and still waiting. We were going to go today, but like always, I got sick, and then Dan got sick, so we will have to see how we are both feeling.

On February 23, I took off work and Dan and I, with Gord (Dan's DJ buddy) and Kimberly, went to Edmonton to the water park at West Edmonton Mall! There was just Dan, Kimberly and I who went swimming while gord slept at the hotel. This park is so fun, but it ended all too fast, so we are trying to plan another trip up there! We had to leave a bit early because Dan and Gord were scheduled to DJ the YSA dance up there, so they had to prepare for it. Kimberly and I saw a few old friends there which was cool, but honestly, I've seen better dances. We got back to the hotel really late and didn't get too much sleep. We drove back the next day, and pretty much slept when we got home! But it was a pretty good weekend overall, it was good to get out of Calgary for a bit.

On the last day of February, I moved out of my house with my roommates and moved in with Kristie (my oldest sister). And I guess it was a good thing that I did because in my old house, I just found out, it started flooding in the basement (where my room was located) because of all the warm weather and the melting snow! That was a close one! But I am happy where I am now, except the kids have been sick, and now, of course, I'm sick! Oh well, I'm sure we'll get over it soon! So I still have some things in storage and I'm slowly going through my things and getting rid of the things I don't use or need anymore. I can't wait for it to be all sorted and organized! I was sleeping on Kristie's couch at first because the carpet for the basment wasn't in at the time, but everything is now falling into place with the carpet and all! I'm so grateful for sister's who will always welcome me in their homes! This isn't the first time that I've crashed at a sister's place, and it makes me all that much more grateful! And thank you Dan for helping me move all of my crap from place to place, I know it's not a fun process. I love you so much! I am also now back in Confederation Park Ward, where I first was when I came into the YSA scene. It's good to see some familiar faces again!

Now into March, I haven't done too much, but be sick, but I'm slowly but surely getting over it all. I did however, go to the Flames game this past Saturday night with Dan! I haven't been to a game in quite some time, and we had been planning to go for awhile too. It was last minute to get the tickets. What happened was that we were planning on taking the kids swimming after Mike's Birthday party (Happy Birthday Mike!) But Dan calls me on his way over and tells me that his friend has two extra tickets and offered them to us. So of course, we jumped on that offer! It was really fun though! The Flames were playing against Tampa Bay Lightning, and unfortunately they lost 3-2 in over time. At least we had a good time though. That was the night where we put our clocks ahead too, so I didn't get too much sleep either.

My 21st

ImageWell, it's true, I'm officially IN my 20s. It was my birthday yesterday! Now I'm legal everywhere! lol I'm just kidding....but really, I am. I didn't go to work because I discovered on Monday night that my eye was kind of getting red and it was crusting when I woke up (I know it sounds gross). So I go into work Tuesday morning, and Therie (my supervisor) told me to go to the Clinic that was near by, because if it was pink eye, I can't be at work. So I go to the clinic, and after about 50 minutes of waiting, I find out that it's pink eye, and I was given a prescription. So I go home and do some grocery shopping and pick up my eye drops. I also got these 2 new video games, so I tried those out on my days off. So I didn't go to work Wednesday either, because I was still contagious. The only thing that I can think of on how I got pink eye in the first place, is when I went to the Hot Springs last weekend. I guess you never know what you can get from a pool! Sick! But it was kind of nice to have the day off for my birthday, but it would have been nice if I actually slept in! I woke up at about 8:00am, and I couldn't fall back asleep! Oh well, I just played some game cube and relaxed for most of the day. Then after Dan's class, he took me to go see the Premiere of the movie "Norbit" with Eddie Murphy. It was actually a pretty funny movie, I really enjoyed it! Then we went back to my house and made nachos and watched Conan O'brien and the first bit of the News. It was such a laied back day, it was awesome! I guess it was good too because it was pretty cold outside that day, so it was a good indoor day.
Thank you to all who wished me a Happy Birthday! I got a few phone calls and text messages yesterday! It was great!

Weekend in BC

This past weekend I went to BC! Dan and I were invited by Spence and Laurie (his brother and sister-in-law). Laurie's parents have a huge cabin near Panorama, and we were more than happy to go with them! Dan's sister, Jackie, also came along! We left Calgary at about 3:00pm on Saturday because Dan had class that morning. It was about a 2 and a half hour drive, and on the way, we were watching movies with the kids (Spence and Laurie have 2 boys, Ethan and Will) And I should have known better, but I watched the movies as well, while Spence was driving on those windy roads, and low and behold I get carsick. What would a vacation be without me getting sick right? But luckily I didn't start feeling it until we were near the cabin, and I was able to control it. So we get there and settle ourselves in and look around this cabin. We come in from downstairs, so that's where we started. There was 4 bedrooms, and 3 of those had queen size bunk beds! Plus there was an room with couches and a TV, and hidden behind some other doors there was 2 stand up washers and dryers! That's 2 of each!! Then there's a bathroom with a shower. Then we moved upstairs, and there is a big kitchen with a huge island (the bottom of it was stone rocks and cement, it looked so cool!) and a living room with nice furniture and surround sound and a big screen TV, which was flat screen as well! There is a bathroom, and two more bedrooms, one being the master bedroom. And the deck outside! so cool! There's a hammock, BBQ, and a hot tub! There's also a big jungle gym in the back yard! This place was amazing! I defiantly want to go back there again! So that night, we went to the Radium Hot Springs. That was so fun! They had a hot tub there, and I don't think I've ever been in such a boiling hot tub! The maximum recommended time to stay in there was 5 minutes and Dan and I could only last a couple. Jackie couldn't even sit down! But then we went home, showered, watched some TV, and went to bed. The next morning was church in Fairmont. This branch was so small, there was only about 20 people there, and that's with visitors! They were saying though, that sometimes they get about 300 people in the summer! I don't know how they can fit that many people in that small building! Anyway, we only stayed there for the Sacrament Meeting, then we headed back to the cabin. We got changed, and Dan and I went in the hot tub, then we had a nap. Then we were woken up to leave. We weren't there for very long, but it was so worth the trip! I had a really good time! Maybe by the time we go again, I will have learned how to snowboard so that we can go to the mountain! Dan is wanting to teach me and I've been dieing to learn for so long! All I need are my bindings and my boots, so I'm almost ready to get started!

Happy Birthday!!

Image Today is Dan's birthday! I just want to say that I love you so much and I hope you had a good day, and the best of times in the year ahead of you! I love how our birthdays are so close, because then we can celebrate together! My birthday is a week and a half after Dan's! And we are 4 years apart...you do the math!

Christmas in San Francisco

Image
Wow, I don't get out much! This Christmas I was invited to go to San Francisco with Dan and his family, and I gladly accepted it! We left Christmas day, at about 7:00pm so I was still able to spend some time with my family for Christmas. However, I got the flu on Christmas Eve :( It all of a sudden hit me and I felt like I was dead! Luckily Dan was with me to help me with things and to clean up after me. Yes, he IS the best boyfriend ever! He then drove me to Carstairs that night so that I could be with family, which was really nice of him to do that. Then Christmas morning he was supposed to come to my house but turns out, he woke up sick! Keep in mind, we were supposed to be LEAVING that day! Dan soon felt better that day, so we still went as planned, and my Dad drove me back into Calgary to drop me off at Dan's house. Then Amanda (my sister) took care of my bunny Gunther and my car while I was gone. Even though I didn't feel too good still, I still went to San Fran and had a blast there!! When we first got there, Dan's parents rented a car (which we had minor difficulties with) then we headed out to Dan's sister's place (Pam). That took longer than expected because we seemed to lose our way one too many times, so Dan and I got to sleep in the back of the car while his parent's found their way. When we finally arrived, we went straight to bed!
ImageThe next day, we drove to San Fran and went to the beach, took a few pictures and did a bit of shopping! Again, for most of the day, we spent trying to find our way around, but it was a fun adventure, because I have never been to California before, and it was good to see the sights! Dan and I then went on our own to go to Alcatraz! So cool! We went at night, but it didn't really make it spooky, it was just really interesting. It was also raining that day, so we got a bit wet, but it was all worth it! On our way back to the mainland on the ferry, we saw the city lights which were amazing! Then we went home to bed. Then Dan and I went to the city again and did a bit more shopping, and we also went to Pier 39 which was Fisherman's Warf. Here, there were a whole bunch of seals just lazing around on the docks! There were so many of them! Definitely a cool thing to see! There were also little shops around there too which we checked out as well. The street performers were something else there! We saw many live statues, dancers and whatnots, but there was one that stuck out to me in particular. There was this guy who would sit on a crate by the fence on a sidewalk right by the view of the harbor, and he had these bush branches that he would hid behind! He would peek through them as people were walking by, and when they got close enough he would scare them! This guy had an audience on the other side of the street and every time he got a good laugh out of everyone! What a good way to make money! I do want to go back to San Francisco, and when I do, I want to see this guy again! So since I was sick, I didn't really eat a lot while I was there. Which was fine to me because I never had to worry about stopping to eat! lol! So when Dan and I were about finished in the city, we went back home for supper and were planning on going to the outlet stores that Dan knew about! (By the way, this is where Dan served his mission too, so he knew quite a bit about the place) But this didn't really go according to plan. Since I never felt like eating, I just napped instead. I asked Dan to wake me up when he wanted to head out to the outlet stores. And he tried to wake me up 4 times but I wouldn't wake up!! I ended up sleeping through the night! 14 hours I slept! Lets just say, the next morning, I felt a lot better. But that didn't last too long, because then I started catching a cold from Dan's nephew.
ImageThe next day, however, we went to San Francisco again and did a bit more shopping. Dan and I went ourselves and we took the Bart. That night was his nephew Blake's 8th Birthday, and so he was going to get baptized! The whole thing went really well, and the chapel that we went to was right beside the Oakland Temple! And since it was just after Christmas, the Temple still had their Christmas lights up! It was so beautiful! You can't really see them in the pictures, but I still got some pretty sweet shots. The next day, which was Friday, was the day that Dan and I went home. We had to come home earlier than his parents because Dan was DJing the YSA New Years Dance that night. But it was definitely fun while it lasted! My thanks goes out to Dan and his family for such a great experience! I'll never forget it!

Starting Fresh

Image This is the beginning of my new website! My last one that I had was good, but I had a hard time keeping it updated, so hopefully I will be better at this one! And since I wasn't all that great at updating my last website, there's no need to switch over all of my stuff. Sure I'll get the pictures, but it's nice to start things fresh! I will get things started as soon as possible!
P.S.~ Yes that is me in the picture :)
