Our New Addition

Image
Introducing Deagan Calhoun Lantz. Born November 16th and weighing in at 6lbs 14 ozs and was 20 inches long. Not too shabby for being 4 weeks early. Same exact measurements as his older brother. Drayton and Peyson adore him and he is the sweetest cuddle bug of a baby. We adore him and are so happy he's finally here.

*No I'm still not private. But soon.
*Better pictures to come.

Momma's Little Pirate

Image
So there is a new obsession around the house these days. I guess I shouldn't call it new being that it's been going on since The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything movie came out in January of 08. But lately it's been more obvious. All my kids talk about and play is pirates. All the movies they watch are about pirates. It's getting alittle ridiculous. Why can't they be something a tad more loving and gentle? All they want to do is pilliage and walk the plank and say rrrrrrr. Even the girl child does this. Today Pey stabbed Dray with a sword (obviously plastic) and he fell down dead. Then she laughed. What's a mom to do?

Here comes another........

Image BOY!!! Dray and Pey are getting a brother. Dray used to tell me how bad he wanted a brother. Now of course, he insists he wantes a sister. All I have to say is..Too bad, not a dang thing I can do about it. He'll change his mind tomorrow.

Summer Fun

We've been going out and having lotsa fun this summer. Yesterday we went to a puppet show and Peter Piper Pizza. Dray loves runnign around and playing the games. And Pey loves running around and pretending to play the games. Her way is alot cheaper. This is us waiting to go in. No pictures inside.
Image Daddy makes a good couch.

We also have our very own built in water park. No need for us to pay $70 to go to Sunsplash. We've got all the fun we need.

Image

Apparently that water tastes really good.

Image

Drayton felt that Peyson was at risk of drowning in the five inches of water and therefore needed a floatation device.

Image

Drayton likes to practice his facial expressions....I think this one is questioning me.
"Are you sure, mom?"

This is a look of pure delight.

I know what you're thinking, and you're absolutely right. I do have the cutest kids.

Nada Mucha Lada

Not alot going on lately. I've been too tired and it's been too hot. It's hard to motivate myself to do anything when I'm sweating in places I didn't realize I had. We've been going swimming and to the movies. And even spending some time at the library. A few weeks ago there was a magician and next week is a reptile guy. It's nice having Dustin home alot during the day, so we all get to do alot together. I don't really have any new pictures because I'm horrible at remembering to bring my camera. Next post I'll have one of my bump. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and in that weird awkward stage where you are too skinny (like the work skinny could possibly apply to me right now) for maternity clothes and too fat for regular ones. Kinda irritating. Peyson is under the impression that she has a baby in her belly too. At my last appointment she had the doctor put the heart moniter to her belly and called my baby's heart beat a "choo choo." The mind of a toddler is an interesting place. Dray has informed me that he needs a brother because he already has a Peyson and that's more than a sister. Don't let him fool ya though, he loves that little sis of his. Those 2 are like 2 peas in a pod. I'm not sure what one would do without the other. Anyhoo, that's us lately. Just hanging out and ........enjoying the heat?
ImageLike I said, just hanging out.

Getting Away

A few weeks ago we took a trip up north to Eagar to see Dustin's grandma. I love Eagar. It's always cooler than here and it's definitely not as busy. It was a very relaxing trip. And the kiddos love their Grandma Frances. We made the trip home a fervent search for snow, so it ended up taking several hours longer than it should have. But it was definitely worth it. We finally found accessible snow at Woods Canyon lake, of al. places. It was the kids' first experience in snow, although a tad pathetic, very memorable. I love family trips.

To My Best Friend...

I feel the need to express to my husband how grateful I am for him. He works so hard and sacrifices alot for our family. He is always there for us and provides the way. The kids worship him. Drayton wants to be just like his daddy when he grows up. I would feel ungrateful if I didn't let him know that. We've had our struggles but we've risen above them and have come out stronger. You are my best friend and the person I can turn to with anything. You even tell me how pretty I am when I first wake up (now that is love). I love you Dustin. I am so honored that I get to spend forever with you.

Lazy Days

None of us have felt very well lately so we've been sittin around watching movies. Seriously, sometimes I feel like I can barely move. And poor Pey has had a temperature of 102 all day. Poor baby. I feel so bad when she feels like this because there is nothing I can do but hold her. I think we watched 4 movies today: Flushed Away, Over the Hedge, Pinnochio, and 2gether the kids didn't watch that one).

Image

Infact, our past week has been kinda lazy. I think there's something in the air. Or maybe the heat. Peyson has gotten so bored with sitting around that she has to find more interesting and creative places to do so. Image

That's a baby swing I got out for my niece when she comes over. I think Pey has more swing time though. She sure as heck wouldn't sit in that thing when she was a baby. I think she's gettin bored with the movie watchin. Of course there is one person who will never get bored with movies. Image

I took about 6 of these pictures and he didn't even look at me. Sad.

Anyway, that's how exciting our lives have been lately. Kinda pathetic. But we all go through it at one point or another. Maybe some of us more than others, though.

More From the Mouths of My Babes

We took Drayton to the doctor today because his anus has been inflammed and red and he bleeds everytime he poops. We were sitting in the room, waiting for the doctor and Dray asked "Am I gonna get a new bum?" Dustin told him no, he isn't getting a new one. Drayton got a concerned look on his face and asked "They don't have any new bums here?"

Last night at dinner I told the kids that we would take a bath after we ate. So Peyson pushed her plate away from her, gave me a stern look and said..."Bath! Now!" She's not even a year and a half yet. Where in the world did this come from?

Tonight, we were driving to watch Dustin coach baseball. He coaches a little league team. We were singing songs on the way and I started to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." "Oh mommy, you found my heart!""Dray, how did I find your heart?""My heart is in this song!" Oh Dray, I love you.

Also at the game, we were sitting on sidelines watching. Peyson hadn't noticed Dustin there yet, and then he ran by. She spent the rest of the game yelling at the top of her lungs "DAD! DAD! DAD! DAD!" The boys couldn't even pay attention to anything but her.

I would love to be able to hear my kids thought, for just one day. To know where their little minds roam inorder to produce the craziness that comes outta their mouths.

You're in a big time out!

Last night Dustin and I went to a hockey game. It was the first hockey game I've ever been to. I wasn't too sure about how I'd like it, but Dustin recently got a hockey game for the xbox 360, and has become kind of obsessed. So it went along like any sporting event. They took the puck back and forth trying to make goals. Ramming each other into walls. Then one of the guys on our team ( like I had a team) made a goal. Well that's good. I mean it's what the game is about. Well for some reason a guy on the other team must have not realized that's what they were all doing our there. He got really ticked off and jumped on the other guy. They started pounding each other. It was hilarious. Then the ref came over and pulled the aggressor off and put him in a box. "What is that box for?" I asked Dustin. "It's a pentalty box. He has to sit there for 5 minutes for fighting." Wait so they put him in time out. I'm sorry I didn't realize we were watching elementary school hockey. And that is pretty much how the rest of the game went. Someone would do something good, and the other teams players would beat them up. It seriously took me back a few years. I never realized how fun it could be to watch grown men fight over losing.

So Lately....

Life has been pretty busy. Dustin's been working a ton. And I've been schoolin and playin with the kiddos. We go see Dustin at the station whenever possible. The kiddos love to go play on the engine. Image

Image

Dustin and I also got to go on our first trip alone since we got married. It was so fun. We went to stay in Eagar with Dustin's grandma and then went to sunrise and went snowboarding. I haven't been snowboarding since I was 16, and it was only once. So you can imagine how awesome I did. Or didn't. I spent more time on my back than on my board. It was so fun, though. And it was so nice to spend some alone time with the hubby, thanks to my brother and his wife who took our kids in for a few days. Thanks Brent and Kathryn! The drive up usually takes anywhere from 3 and a half to 4 hours. It took us 6 whole hours! From Payson to Show low there was nothing but vast whiteness the whole way. They even closed the road about 20 minutes after we started through Payson. It was kinda scary, but an adventure.

Image

Since we've been home we've been trying to do alot with the kids to make up for leaving them. We even put Dray in karate. He had to test to get in, because they only take about 40% of the 3 year olds. They test their motor skills and ability to follow directions. He passed and earned his white belt.

So that's us lately. Just livin life.

From The Mouths Of Babes

Sometimes my son says things that shock and embarrass me. Sometimes he says things that make me laugh until I cry.

Dray: Hi I'm Dray, wanna be my friend.
Random Primary Kid(RPK): (silence)
Dray: Uh, hello?
RPK: (silence)
Dray raises his hand
Sister Belt: Yes Drayton
Dray: (pointing to the RPK) I don't think he speaks english.

Ash: So Eric, who do you like?
Eric: What do you mean?
Ash: Like do you have any girls?
Dray: Eric has Grandma.

Dray walks in, middle finger up
Dray: Hey mom look a this!
Me: Where in the world did you learn that?
Dray: Uh, Porter (His cousin who is a year younger)
Me: Ya ok whatever
That night at dinner
Dray: Hey mom (middle finger raised again)
Me: Dray where in the world did you see that?
Dray: I told you Porter.
Me: No you didn't, who was it.
Dray puts his head down in shame and points across the table.
My Mom: I did not teach you that!

Where does my kid get this stuff?

Hall Of Flame

Last Friday Dustin, Drayton, Peyson and I went to the Hall of Flame in Tempe. It was so awesome. Seriously, talk about about big boys and their toys. I think Dustin was in Heaven.

ImageThey had firetrucks from all over the world, dating back to the 1700's. The oldest one was a hand pump that you put over a well or lake and manually pumped the water out. (I'd say fire fighters today are a bit spoiled). Let's hope most people lived pretty close to water, or you were in big trouble.

ImageThere was so much hands on fun for the kids. All the fire fighters in our group loved this place. Big and little. Present and Future.

CTR

It's a new year, meaning we're all taking another step forward. I woke up Sunday with a runny nose, headache and a cough. So, understandably, I had no intention of going to church. I got the kids up and fed them, as usual. Then I turned on the tv and laid down on the couch. That's where is all went wrong. "Mommy! We need to take a bath." "No, Dray we're gonna stay home today." "But mom, it's my first day of primary! I don't wanna miss it!" How do you say no to that. My kid is begging me to go to church. Then, realizing that church was starting right then, I high tailed it up stairs to make an attempt at looking presentable. It didn't work, and we got there as sacrament meeting ended. But Drayton was so excited to go to primary. We walked into the primary room, a room he has never been in, and he looked a little intimidated, but by the time we made it to the front of the room he could barely contain his excitement. He saw all of his friends from nursery and ran over to sit with them. I decided that ducking out would be my best bet. Because I was sick I didn't feel like sitting in Sunday School and Relief Society coughing and blowing my nose, so I sat in the foyer and had the following wards sacrament while Peyson chased people down the hall. Not sure why but my daughter feels its necessary to throw her shoes at people Anyway, when I went to pick Dray up he was wearing a CTR ring. "Look mommy, I choose the right! and Saturday I get ice cream!" He told me what he learned, and how much he loves his teacher. It was so sweet. Saturday they have their first Primary Activity and he has reminded about it everyday. While wearing his ring that he never takes off.
